Head of the Rossotrudnichestvo Representative Office in the Republic of India Dr Elena Remizova took part in a symposium dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Bandung Conference, organized by the Council for Social Development and the Indian International Center.
As Dr Elena Remizova noted, in today's international conditions, the principles laid down at the Bandung Conference are extremely important, since they remind us of the equality of all nations, the importance of international law and, most importantly, of an inclusive, non-aligned approach to international relations.
The importance of the Bandung Conference is difficult to overestimate, since it was the first conference of the countries of the Global South, uniting more than half of the world's population.
In this regard, it can be said that the principles of the Bandung Conference - primarily non-alignedness - underlie the BRICS+ associations, which today also cover more than half of the world's population.
It is important that the participants of the Bandung Conference highly appreciated the role of the UN Charter in maintaining the world legal order, since at that time it was the only international platform where non-aligned countries could express their opinion.
Today, the principles set out in the Declaration adopted at the Bandung Conference are in many ways consonant with Russia's initiatives in the international arena, advocating for a non-aligned security system in Europe and Asia.
In the current geopolitical conditions, the legacy of the Bandung Conference, which became the basis for the emergence of the Non-Aligned Movement and the non-aligned status of many countries, is acquiring new significance. For states, such cooperation based on a non-aligned approach is acquiring a new meaning and is being implemented in various formats, in particular, in the BRICS+ format.

The Russian House in New Delhi hosted a screening of the documentary film “People of Christ. Our Time” by Serbian director Jovan Markovic.
The film reveals the tragic reality: the persecution of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church by the Kyiv authorities, pressure on believers, the destruction of shrines, and the ban on worship services in Russian. Through the director’s lens are eyewitness accounts from Russia, Serbia, Great Britain, Italy, and Ukraine, united by the pain of trampled Christian values.
The film becomes the voice of those whose faith was persecuted, and the footage shot in the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra is a living testimony of what is happening. The director of the film delicately and accurately speaks about the most important thing: the human right to spiritual freedom.
