๐Ÿ”ธIn Russia, most Buryats live in the Republic of Buryatia, the Irkutsk region, and the Trans-Baikal Territory. Buryats are a North Mongolian people. They speak Buryat and Russian languages.

๐Ÿ”ธThe religion of the indigenous Buryats is shamanism. Traditionally, this Siberian people worshipped nature spirits and gods. Tourists, coming to Baikal, still meet shamans in small villages and large cities. They believe that shamans of Buryatia can cure disease, drive away evil spirits, predict the future and do rituals for good luck.

๐Ÿ”ธHistorically the Buryats lived in portable and permanent yurts called ger. Portable yurts consisted of a frame and felt, while the construction of permanent yurts used wood. Among the Buryats there were many craftsmen working with leather, wool, wood and metal. Women were engaged in embroidering patterns and wool knitting.

๐ŸฅฃTraditional dishes are made of meat and spices, but a special place in Buryat cuisine is occupied by fish, namely the local delicacy - Baikal smoked omul. If you are a guest in a Buryat house, you will certainly get a dairy treat from the hands of the hosts. Milk products are sacred in this region, mostly because of its white color - a symbol of purity, happiness and prosperity.
