Weekend trip to Sviyazhsk! 🗺
🔸Sviyazhsk is an island, on which in the 16th century Ivan the Terrible built a fortress – outpost to capture Kazan. The fortress was built in just 4 weeks.
🔸The population of this historical town constitutes only 243 people, while on its territory there are more than 35 cultural heritage sites under state protection.
🔸The unique feature of this reserve is that here everyone can get familiar with the medieval atmosphere: to compete in archery, to try on a real armour and to visit spectacular jousting battles. The Holy Dormition Monastery, the domes of which could be seen right at the approach to the city, serves as a symbol of Sviyazhsk. Until the 18th century, the monastery was the main spiritual centre of the entire Volga region.
🔸In 2015 the island-town of Sviyazhsk in Tatarstan received a natural reserve status.

🔹It impresses everyone who has ever been there with its beauty. The pink surface with a golden hue and the snow-white coast strewn with salt crystals fascinate and seem unearthly.
🔹People come here to escape from the daily routine, improve their health and breathe in plenty of tart steppe air.
🔹Lake Elton is the Russian Dead Sea. Elton is replenished by several brackish rivers and bottom mineral springs. It is the largest salt lake in Europe, it has huge reserves of table salt, brine (water saturated with salt), as well as therapeutic mineral mud. The mineralization of brine is 350-400 g/l, which is 1.5 times more than the salinity of the Dead Sea waters. In spring, the lake is filled with meltwater and becomes bluish, in summer it becomes very shallow and acquires a pink tint.
🔹The depth of the lake is no more than one and a half meters - up to 10 cm in summer, up to 1.5 m in spring, even in the most full-flowing months. Therefore, the ideal time to travel to the lake is spring or early autumn, when there is a much more comfortable weather for treatment.
🔹Lake Elton legends explain us its current name. The peoples of the Mongolian ethnographic group called this place Altyn-Nor ("Golden bottom"). The fact is that the algae that has been living here for thousands of years and a variety of crayfish contain hematochrome, a pigment that “gives birth” to five shades of a warm range: from golden to pink.

Graduates tell how their life turned out after getting education at the university, recall their student years and note the value of the knowledge, experience and connections gained during this time.
Nurgeldi Seyidov studied two years at the Ashgabat Agricultural Institute, then he was taken to the army because he was assigned to the Baltic Fleet in St. Petersburg. Later he entered the Oriental faculty of the St. Petersburg State University. Today Nurgeldi represents the Humanitarian Association of World Turkmens in Russia. Space is an amazing expanse where boundaries between countries and cultures disappear and a common humanity comes to the fore.
For Cosmonautics Day, Rossotrudnichestvo prepared a video with the memories of cosmonauts who participated in the Intercosmos program.
This program was created by the Soviet Union to promote international cooperation in space. Most of the socialist countries participated in it, giving their citizens a unique chance to become astronauts and see our planet from orbit.

From June 12 to 22, the project participants will go on a bus trip along the Moscow-Smolensk-Minsk-Brest route, see all the places along the way filled with the memory of the feat of the Soviet people during the Great Patriotic War, as well as listen to lectures and master classes on the development of project management and leadership qualities.

💎The mine was opened in 1955. In 1957 the working settlement of Mirny grew up near the diamond-bearing vein. In 1959 Mirny received the city status. The "Mir" quarry produced $17 billion worth of diamonds between 1957 and 2001.
💎The "Mir" kimberlite pipe largest diamond was found in 1981. It weighs 342.5 carats (68.5 grams).
💎Like any miracle, the "Mir" diamond quarry is overgrown with legends – it is said that one feels dizzy at the very bottom of the mine, and one begins to experience euphoria when he goes upstairs. People believe that the mine beckons and hypnotizes its visitors, it looks like a bottomless abyss. The quarry is closed for an indefinite period at the moment, but this does not prevent it from being one of the most striking sights of industrial tourism in Yakutia.

🥣Traditional dishes are made of meat and spices, but a special place in Buryat cuisine is occupied by fish, namely the local delicacy - Baikal smoked omul. 😍 Яркие цвета и необычные орнаменты собора Василия Блаженного напомнили студентам Мадрасского университета о старинных тамильских храмах. Удивительно, как культуры России и Индии перекликаются через века и географические границы.
В Ченнаи более 30 студентов одного из старейших высших учебных заведений Индии совершили виртуальную прогулку по собору Василия Блаженного благодаря фильму RT Documentary: послушали знаменитый колокольный звон, полюбовались яркими куполами, поднялись по старинным ступеням на крышу, увидели росписи залов.
👀 После просмотра студенты поделились с директором Русского дома в Ченнаи Александром Додоновым своей мечтой — увидеть Красную площадь и красоту храма своими глазами.

✅ Более 150 учащихся школ Ченнаи пришли на открытый урок «Давайте говорить по-русски». Ребята познакомились с русской культурой и русским языком. Они с удовольствием принимали участие в импровизированных диалогах и пробовали общаться друг с другом, используя новые слова.
Занятие провели преподаватели Института русского языка РУДН Екатерина Козловская и Мария Алимова.
🎓 Школьники поделились своими планами и мечтами о дальнейшем образовании и карьере, а также обсудили с преподавателями РУДН возможности получения бесплатного высшего образования в России.
Урок прошёл в мэрии столицы южноиндийского штата Тамилнад. Организаторы: Россотрудничество и РУДН.
