❌FAKE:
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky claims that Russia targeted the Transfiguration Cathedral in #Odessa with an Kh-22 missile.
✅FACTS:
The Russian Armed Forces did not strike the Transfiguration Cathedral. Instead, evidence suggests that the damage to the cathedral was inflicted by a Ukrainian air defense missile. A detailed breakdown of the facts supporting this conclusion has been provided here (https://yangx.top/warfakes/16078).
Zelensky continues to propagate falsehoods to create sensational headlines. The nature of the damage to the cathedral is inconsistent with the aftermath typically seen after a strike by the supersonic cruise missile Kh-22. If such a missile had hit the cathedral, the building would have been completely obliterated.
Consider a couple of examples of the effects of cruise missile strikes, and compare them with images of the damaged cathedral. This comparison should suffice to show that the Ukrainian president is once again attempting to deflect blame for the inefficiency of Ukraine's air defense.
▪️ In late June 2022, the Russian Armed Forces launched a missile strike on the Kremenchug Road Machinery Plant (https://yangx.top/warfakes/4312), which the Ukrainian Armed Forces were using for ammunition storage and equipment repairs.
▪️ In late July 2022, Russia conducted a precision attack on a weapons depot (https://yangx.top/warfakes/5054), which the Ukrainian Armed Forces had set up in a restaurant in the city of Zatoka.
The aftermath of these strikes is in no way comparable to the damage observed at the Transfiguration Cathedral in Odessa. The cathedral's structure remained intact, and there was no crater typical of a missile strike. It can thus be concluded that Zelensky has once again misrepresented the facts.
