"The local authorities continue to mock the memory of the Red Army soldiers who heroically fell in the battles for the liberation of Latvia and the whole Europe from Nazism.

On May 26, the Jekabpils Regional Duma announced its intention to dismantle the memorial to Soviet artillerymen at Rigas Street, 205 (the same one from the pedestal of which in February 2021 the artillery gun was stolen), to exhume and rebury the remains of the Soviet Army officers entombed at this fraternal grave.

We regard this decision as a flagrant and deliberate violation of the bilateral intergovernmental Agreement on the status of burial places of 2007, which prescribes the Latvian Party to protect, maintain and take care of the fraternal graves, but not vice versa.

Article 4 of the Agreement clearly states that the reburial of the remains can be carried out only upon consent of both Parties. The Russian Party did not give its consent to this.

The Embassy has already sent a note of protest to the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, urging it to prevent the wrongful acts of the municipal authorities and ensure strict compliance with international obligations.

We are convinced that there should be no condescending attitude towards such initiatives. We are expecting a clear response from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Latvian Republic, based on conscientious observance of the fundamental principles of international law."

"Местные власти продолжают глумиться над памятью воинов-красноармейцев, героически павших в боях за освобождение Латвии и всей Европы от нацизма.

26 мая Екабпилсская краевая дума объявила о намерении демонтировать мемориал советским артиллеристам по адресу ул.Ригас, 205 (тот самый, с постамента которого в феврале 2021 г. было похищено артиллерийское орудие), эксгумировать и перенести останки офицеров Советской Армии, погребённых на этом братском воинском захоронении (БВЗ).

Рассматриваем это решение как грубое и заведомо умышленное нарушение двустороннего Межправительственного соглашения о статусе захоронений от 2007 г., которое предписывает Латвийской Стороне обеспечивать обустройство, содержание и защиту БВЗ, но никак не наоборот.

В статье 4 Соглашения однозначно указано, что перезахоронение останков может производиться только с согласия Сторон. Российская Сторона своего согласия на это не давала.

Посольство уже направило в адрес МИД Латвии ноту протеста, призвав воспрепятствовать противоправным действиям муниципалитета и обеспечить неукоснительное выполнение международных обязательств.

Убеждены, что снисходительного отношения к такого рода инициативам быть не должно. Мы ожидаем чёткой реакции со стороны внешнеполитического ведомства республики, основанной на добросовестном соблюдении фундаментальных принципов международного права".

⚠️ According to information received from captured Ukrainian servicemen, militants of nationalist battalions are preparing another provocation with the use of toxic substances in Sumy.

▫️The neo-Nazis plan to shell Russian border territory from a residential area in the city and provoke Russian units to retaliate, after which they will blow up chemical tanks.

📹Foreign journalists are in Sumy to take photographs and video.

▫️This cynical action will soon be used by the Kiev authorities to accuse the Russian Armed Forces of allegedly using chemical weapons and indiscriminate strikes on civilians.

❗️ The Kiev regime continues its provocations aimed at creating a possible technological disaster at Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant.

◽️ Today, around 4.00 am, the enemy, with forces of up to two companies, made another attempt to land troops on the left bank of the Kakhovka Reservoir and seize the territory of the nuclear power plant.

◽️ For the landing, the enemy involved 37 motor boats and cutters (12 heavy and 25 light types) with AFU servicemen.

💥 The Russian troops took active actions when guarding the outer perimeter of the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant to neutralise the enemy’s landing troops.

◽️ The losses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces amounted to more than 90 Ukrainian personnel and 14 motor boats. The rest of landing group were scattered by artillery fire in the water area of the Kakhovka Reservoir.

💥 In addition, in 24 hours, the AFU artillery fired 13 shells at the northern outskirts of Energodar and the territory adjacent to the nuclear power plant.

◽️ The strikes were carried out from the area close to Marganets, Dnepropetrovsk region, controlled by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

◽️ The hostile firepower has been neutralised by Russian artillery’s counter-attack.

⚠️ There are no casualties and destruction at the station. The radiation environment remains normal.
