- NEWS - The European Union is introducing new rules for entry into the Schengen area for non-EU citizens from November 10
The main innovation will be the Entry/Exit Scheme (EES) border control system, which will automatically record the entry and exit of foreign citizens. Upon first entry, travellers' biometric data will be stored in the system for 3 years, and registration will be done automatically via self-service terminals. You will have to scan your passport at these terminals each time you cross the border.
Refusal to provide biometric data will result in refusal of entry. The EES system will work in all #EU countries except #Cyprus and #Ireland, as well as in four non-EU Schengen countries: #Iceland, #Liechtenstein, #Norway, and #Switzerland
