❗️ The anarchist Ruslan Siddiqui could face a life sentence
On 30 May, new charges were brought against the anarchist Ruslan Siddiqui, who is accused of acts of sabotage against military infrastructure in Russia. He is now charged with "undertaking training with the intention of perpetrating acts of terrorism" (Article 205.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and of handling explosive substances for an "organised group" (Article 222.1, paragraph 4). He could now face a prison sentence of between 15 years to life.
Charges were previously brought against Ruslan Siddiqui under Articles covering acts of terrorism and the preparation of explosive substances, which could mean between 12 and 30 years in prison. But the Article on "terrorist training" envisages harsher punishment than the one on acts of terrorism — from 15 years to life. The Article is written in such a way that the security services can use it to add to their leading case. A defendant faces a longer sentence for "training" than for actually doing something. This Article was also used, for example, in the case of Roman Nasryev and Alexei Nuriev, who earlier this year received the record sentence for firebombing a military recruitment centre: 19 years’ imprisonment each.
Ruslan Siddiqui does not consider what he did — blowing up a section of railway underneath a goods train, and attacking a military aerodrome with drones — to be terrorism. He points out that his aim was to damage military infrastructure. He undertook his actions in such a way as to avoid harming anybody. The Article on "terrorist acts", one of the main definitions of which is that they intimidate people, does not apply.
For this reason, we believe that the Article on "terrorist training" also does not apply in Ruslan’s case.
As for handling explosive substances, here the phrase about an "organised group" raises questions. The investigating officers claim that the "organised criminal group" is the Central Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of Ukraine. But Ruslan insists that he planned and carried out his actions single-handedly. And the investigators themselves found that Siddiqui had prepared explosives at home, using ingredients that can be purchased legally: the most popular ones in Russia — triacetone triperoxide (TATP) and ammonal.

For Yuri Mikheev’s defence, we need another €900
The antifascist Yuri Mikheev is the youngest prisoner supported by Solidarity zone. Eighteen-year-old Yuri was arrested, with another person, on 10 November 2023 at a military property in the Moscow region. The Federal Security Service (FSB) have accused these young people of planning to set fire to military equipment. A case has been opened under the Article of the Criminal Code on “preparation of an act of sabotage”. Yuri faces up to ten years’ imprisonment.
From the first few days after Yuri’s arrest, Solidarity zone has given him all-round support, including paying for a lawyer to represent him. In May, we launched a second fundraiser to pay for the defence attorney’s work over a six-month period. Most of the necessary sum has been raised and paid, but we need to raise a further €900 to complete payment up to November.
Yuri Mikheev is a prisoner of wartime. If Russia had not invaded Ukraine, this case would never have happened. For Yuri, a lawyer brings not only a chance to reduce his probable sentence, but also some protection from the arbitrary terror of the security services, from pressure and from torture.

Fundraiser for Rouslan Sidiki’s legal defence
Rouslan Sidiki is an anarchist from Ryazan, an opponent of the war, and a dual citizen of Russia and Italy. He stands accused of sabotage, including the bombing of railway tracks and an attack on a military airfield in the Ryazan region. The charges against him include “terrorism,” “undertaking training with the intention of perpetrating acts of terrorism,” and the handling of explosives.
Sidiki maintains that his actions were motivated by the desire to prevent harm caused by military operations, with his sole aim being to damage military infrastructure. If convicted of all charges, he faces up to life imprisonment.

Rouslan Sidiki is an anarchist from Ryazan, an opponent of the war, and a dual citizen of Russia and Italy. He stands accused of sabotage, including the bombing of railway tracks and an attack on a military airfield in the Ryazan region. The charges against him include “terrorism,” “undertaking training with the intention of perpetrating acts of terrorism,” and the handling of explosives.
Sidiki maintains that his actions were motivated by the desire to prevent harm caused by military operations, with his sole aim being to damage military infrastructure. If convicted of all charges, he faces up to life imprisonment.

The anarchist Alexey Rozhkov was one of the first to protest against Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine by setting fire to a military enlistment office. Later, while in Kyrgyzstan, Alexey gave an interview in which he spoke out against the war and explained the motives behind his actions.
Currently, Alexey Rozhkov is in a Russian pre-trial detention centre, facing charges under articles related to “terrorist acts,” “justification of terrorism,” and spreading “fake news” about the army.
The human rights project “Support for Political Prisoners. Memorial” has recognised Alexey Rozhkov as a political prisoner, in accordance with international criteria, and demands his immediate release.
Defence in court is crucial — both to reduce the scope of the charges and to lay the groundwork for further efforts to secure Alexey’s freedom. Currently, we need €3,000 to cover the lawyer’s fees and €720 to pay for the participation of specialists who have prepared reviews of the accusatory analyses by the FSB.

Schoolteacher Boris Goncharenko was detained in October 2022 on suspicion of setting fire to a military recruitment office in Goryachy Klyuch (Krasnodar region). Initially, Boris was charged with "attempted destruction of property" (part 3, Article 30; part 2, Article 167 of the Russian Criminal Code), which carried a maximum sentence of 3 years and 9 months in prison. Later, the Federal Security Service (FSB) took over the investigation, and Goncharenko became a suspect in a case of "committing a terrorist act" (part 2, Article 205 of the Criminal Code). This dramatically increased his potential prison sentence — up to 20 years.
Shortly before the verdict, prosecutor Alexei Khanenya changed the charge from "committing a terrorist act" to "assistance to terrorist activities" (part 3, Article 205.1 of the Criminal Code) and requested an 11-year prison sentence for Boris. In the end, Goncharenko was sentenced to 12 years in prison — a year more than the prosecutor’s request.
Boris disagrees with the verdict and plans to appeal the court’s decision.
Solidarity zone is launching a new fundraising campaign to cover legal fees for an appeal in court. To challenge the unjust sentence, €2 560 need to be raised.

We are announcing a fundraising for Roman Nasryev's cassation! Support the appeal of the verdict in the Supreme Court!
On the 11th of October 2022 Roman together with his friend Alexey Nuriev tried to set fire to the military registration office in the building of administration of the city of Bakal. Only a small fragment of linoleum was damaged, no one was hurt. Roman does not agree with the classification of his actions as a ‘terrorist act’ and ‘training for the purpose of terrorist activity’.
In April 2023, Nuriev and Nasriyev were sentenced to 19 years in prison each. In July of the same year, the human rights project ‘Support Political Prisoners. Memorial’ recognised both as political prisoners.
In August 2024, the Military Court of Appeal approved the verdict, rejecting the defence's appeal. It is possible to appeal against unfair court decisions at this stage in the cassation case.

Ukrainian national Sergei Okrushko is accused of organising the explosion that took place on 28 July 2023 at the Kuibyshev oil refinery (OR) in Samara.
After the start of the full-scale invasion, Sergei left Russia and moved to Moldova, where he took part in anti-war protests. He later returned to Samara, where he found work as an electrician at the Kuibyshev refinery. Shortly after the explosion, he was detained at the border with Kazakhstan while attempting to leave Russia.

After almost a year of investigation, he was also charged with the absurd accusation of arson of a music school. Last May, a court found Baburin guilty on six articles, including 'terrorism' and 'state treason', and sentenced him to 25 years in prison.
Ilya rejected the sentence and his lawyer filed an appeal. The Military Court of Appeal upheld the sentence of 25 years in prison, reducing only the amount of the fine he was given in addition to such a huge prison term.
