With the support of Rossotrudnichestvo in India, the next stage of the expedition within the framework of the scientific project "Deep India on the eve of great changes: ethnographic observations during the Indo-Soviet expeditions of the 1970-80s. and a modern look" was held. For three weeks, Prof. Svetlana Ryzhakova, a leading researcher at the IEA RAS, Doctor of Historical Sciences, a member of the Indian Anthropological Society, collected ethnographic material in Central India, West Bengal and Kerala. At the initiative of Dr. Elena Remizova, Head of the Rossotrudnichestvo in India, a commemorative conference was agreed on the basis of the Russian House in New Delhi, dedicated to the legacy of the outstanding Soviet ethnographer Sergei Alexandrovich Arutyunov and his unprecedented expedition to India in the 1970s and 80s.
