🌃Locals often call Arkhangelsk the gateway to the Arctic. This is not surprising: the city is located 30 kilometers from the White Sea. In the early 20th century, polar expeditions departed from here, moving through the permafrost of the Polar region.
🌇Architecture is the first thing that the city amazes tourists. In Arkhangelsk there is a one-of-a-kind 100- meter Soviet skyscraper in the style of modernism. During the USSR there were design organizations inside, but now the space is occupied by offices. By the way, right from the skyscraper goes to Chumbarovka - the main pedestrian street of the city.
🍪Here you can not only look at a lot of preserved wooden houses, but also look into one unusual museum. It is dedicated to the dessert calling card of the city - gingerbread kozula. In translation from the Pomor language "kozulya" means curl. Here you can both buy the dainty and learn how to bake it We also advise you to go to the embankment of the Northern Dvina.
⚓️From here you can board a motorboat that runs along the river through the city. A round trip, according to tourist sites, will cost up to 206 rubles. History lovers will like the Novodvinsk fortress. Built under Peter the Great, the bastion served to protect the local seaport and shipyard. By the way, you should go to it this fall - the work on the restoration of the fortress will be finished.

Kazan, the capital of Tatarstan, is constantly attracting tourists. We tell you how to get here, what to see
and what to try!
It is not difficult to get here - there is an international airport, a bus station and a railway station. Let's start with Kremlin Street. It's a centre of exquisite architecture: here you can immerse yourself in history and visit a couple of museums. For example, the National museum, which is located in the
historic Gostiny Dvor building. Be sure to take a photo against the backdrop of the majestic Ekiyat Theatre-Palace. Especially many
people take photos here in summer. The adjacent territory turns into a real flower park. Do you like to read books? Check out the literary quarter! The streets around it are named in honour of great Russian writers: Leo Tolstoy, Anton Chekhov and others. This is the most creative place in the city:
there are museums and galleries, art and music schools, the Actor's House and the Writers' Union. Be sure to visit the national cuisine café and try echpochmak and elesh - traditional pies with potatoes
and beef or chicken.

❓ Miraculous rescue or strategic failure?
By the time the Russian Empire's war with Napoleon's army ended, the Novodevichy Monastery had
already existed for almost 300 years. However, its history could have ended at this period.
Fleeing from Moscow in 1812, the French army planned to set fire to or blow up many important
sites. Among them was the Novodevichy Monastery.
What ruined Napoleon's plans - see in our video!

Not only the name of the city, but also a man's name. It used to be the capital of Northeast Russia, and today it is part of the Golden Ring and is famous for its historic cathedrals. Most likely, you have already guessed that today we will tell you where you
can go in Vladimir!
Church of the Intercession on the Nerl The 12th century swan-temple is on the UNESCO heritage list. The building has hardly survived to this day: in the XVIll century people wanted to dismantle the church and make a new bell tower from the stone. But the workers asked for such a high fee that it
was decided to keep the church and it was even restored.
Museums There are unusual museums in the city. For example, spoon, jam, gingerbread, unconceived stories (the collection includes elements of everyday life of the XIX-XX
centuries, objects of unusual purpose and others).
Coffee house and workshop "Mayak" Just imagine: aromas of arabica, vintage furniture, hand-painted walls, interior attributes brought from travels. Food and drinks are served here in earthenware. You can also
take part in master classes and mold any object.

📍City of shining skies - what is it? This is what the capital of the Polar Region - Murmansk iscalled.
📍We tell you more about it! It is particularly recommended to come here in winter - because of the northern lights. Among the sights worth seeing is the monument "Alyosha" (affectionately referred to by locals), dedicated to the liberators of the Polar region from the Nazis. The warrior stands with his back to the city, as if covering it with himself. He is protecting it from the enemies. There is an observation platform near the monument. It offers a picturesque view of the city and the Kola
Bay.
📍Don't forget to see the trademark of Murmansk - icebreaker "Lenin", which in the XX century became the first nuclear-powered icebreaker. You can even climb aboard and see the
exposition!
📍Much attention should be paid to the outskirts of the city. For example, the village of Teriberka. Here you can go for a walk and see the whales, ride reindeer sleds and snowmobiles in winter, visit the beach with the "dinosaur eggs"-stones and satisfate yourself with local cuisine rich in
seafood. Tourists highlight the incredibly picturesque nature.
📍Near Teriberka there is a real graveyard of ships! The remains of sea vessels - from small fishing boats to huge boards - is a really breathtaking sight. Be sure to examine the Kanozero Petroglyphs - rock carvings of the IV-ll millennium BC. Since 2008 in the village of Umba in the south of the Kola Peninsula there is a museum "Petroglyphs
of Kanozero". You can see the exhibits there or go on an excursion to the islands.

📍The history of the Novodevichy Convent lasts for almost half a millennium. During this time, many things have changed: a huge megalopolis has emerged around the shrine, the country has gone through several revolutions and wars.
📍However, this place still remains quiet and peaceful, despite everything that is happening around it. Every wall of this architectural ensemble is steeped in history. Thanks to its almost pristine condition, the Novodevichy Convent is protected by UNESCO and declared a heritage of all mankind.
