Forwarded from Russian Embassy in India
๐ท๐บโ๏ธ ๐ฎ๐ณ As agreed during the #BRICS summit on June 23โ24, Russian President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi on July 1, 2022.
The leaders discussed in detail topical issues of the #RussiaIndia relations, paying special attention to the further development of mutually beneficial ties in the economic sphere.
A significant increase in the volume of bilateral trade, including mutual deliveries of agricultural products, was noted with satisfaction.
They expressed mutual intention for the comprehensive strengthening of the special and privileged strategic partnership between Russia and India.
At the request of Narendra Modi, Vladimir Putin briefed on the key aspects of the Russian special military operation, emphasizing the dangerous and provocative nature of the Kiev regime and its Western patronsโ line aimed at escalating the crisis and disrupt efforts to resolve it politically and diplomatically.
The current state of affairs in the global food market was touched upon as well. Vladimir Putin drew attention to the systemic mistakes made by a number of states, which led to the disruption of the entire architecture of the free trade of food products and provoked a significant increase of their cost. Illegitimate sanctions against Russia have exacerbated an already difficult situation. The same factors had a negative impact on the global energy market. At the same time, the Russian leader stressed that Russia has been and remains a reliable producer and supplier of grain, fertilizers and energy carriers, including to the Indian partners.
Vladimir Putin and Narendra Modi agreed to continue personal contacts, as well as interaction at other levels.

๐ขSanctions against Russia open new opportunities to expand ties within the BRICS.
According to the President of the BRICS International Forum, Purnima Anand, thanks to the transition to mutual settlements in national currencies, Brazil, India, China and South Africa are opening opportunities for Russia to overcome the consequences of sanctions.

Yesterday Russian House in Chennai was a place where BRICS SUMMIT 2023 outcomes and future prospects were discussed with well-known experts and students from Chennai's universities and colleges.
โ The Panel Discussion was organized jointly with The Peninsula Foundation and Indo-Russian Chamber of commerce and industry.
๐"The Western countries hide behind the noble slogans of democracy and human rights while seeking to resolve the challenges they face at the expense of others and continuing to siphon off resources from the developing countries", Mr. Oleg N. Avdeev, Consul General of the Russian Federation in Chennai, said here.
๐Famous Indian journalist, Mr. N. Ram, Director of The Hindu Group, mentioned: "The Johannesburg II Declaration came out very clearly against unilateral coercive measures.
The business of sanctions unilaterally imposed, basically by the United States, pushing it through. Whatever we think about the war in Ukraine is absolutely no justification for trying to ostracize and demonize Russian Federation. In fact, Russia is India's most important strategic partner," Mr. Ram said. One must appreciate the stand of the Indian go he said.
๐ฎ๐ณ๐ท๐บ"Whoever is in power. I think, the same position would have been taken in continuing the strong relationship with Russia, refusing to accept this attempt to demonize or ostracize Russia or treating them as persona non grata in the international fora".
๐Air Marshal M. Matheswaran, Founder & Chairman of the Peninsula Foundation, who moderated the discussion, said the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank were always controlled by the U.S. or the Europeans.
"The trading patterns, the rules and regulations, human rights, ethics, standards are laid down by the West. You may have got independence from colonialism, but you are still part of the neo-colonial process," Mr. Matheswaran said.
๐More than 70 students from University of Madras, Loyola College, and other institutions were actively participating in the Panel Discussion and asked a lot of interesting questions regarding the topic to the speakers during the Q&A session.
