The Valley of Geysers in Kamchatka - one of the seven wonders of Russia 🇷🇺

April 14 is the Kamchatka official memorable date – the Valley of Geysers opening day.

🌪The Valley of Geysers in Kamchatka is one of the seven wonders of Russia – the unique natural monument and one of the biggest geyser fields in the world. There are many mud pots, hot and steaming springs, thermal areas, hot and warm lakes, streams and waterfalls in a small canyon.

🌪The valley is situated 180 km north-east from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, within the Kronotsky State Reserve, between the volcanoes Kikhpinych and Uzon.

🌪The Valley was discovered by geologist Tatyana Ustinova. The first geyser became the "First-born". 20 bigger geysers and several hundreds of thermal water outlets were later discovered in the sides of the canyon and in the river bed, as well as at the Geyser Lake bottom.

🌪The geysers have unusual names. "Sugar", "Pearl", "Malachite", "Pink" were named because of the geyserite characteristic color. "Triple," "Grotto," "Furnace," "Inaccessible," "Frying Pan," "Neighbor," "Gap," and "Treacherous" were named because of the outlet conditions. "Giant," "Fountain," "Big," and "Small" were named because of their power.

🌪In 1996 the Valley of Geysers was included in the UNESCO World Heritage list.

🏔Klyuchevskaya Sopka volcano
Kamchatka is the land of volcanoes, on the territory of which there are more than 300
extinct volcanoes and 29 active ones. The most amazing and most powerful of them is Klyuchevskaya Sopka. It is one of the highest volcanoes in Eurasia and Russia, which is about 7 thousand years old.
🏔Klyuchevskaya Sopka is a part of "Volcanoes of Kamchatka" complex
and is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The first eruption of Klyuchevskaya Sopka was fixed in 1737 The first in the history ascent on its top in 1788 was made by Daniel Gauss, a Russian naval officer.
The volcano height varies in the range from 4.7 to 4.85 kilometers above sea level. The volcano erupts once in every 3 to 5 years, and high-powered eruptions are in every 25 to 30 years.
🏔The foot of the Klyuchevskaya Sopka is an incredible and mysterious place. The locals are afraid of the volcano and do not climb it. They tell in legends that spirits of ancestors live inside the mountain, and when smoke comes out of the vent, it means that they are heating their dwellings.
🏔A rare natural phenomenon is the lenticular clouds over the Kliuchevskoy volcano. They cover its top like a hat, and even strong gusts of wind do not move them.
The uniqueness of the relief of the volcano and its pronounced activity attracts climbers and tourists from all over the world. They are not afraid of neither the difficult road, nor the harsh climate, because they all want to see with their own eyes such an amazing natural wonder.

🏔In the Yelizovsky District of the Kamchatka Territory there is a unique natural monument - Kutkhiny Baty. These are beige rocks, resembling boats, stuck vertically in the ground. Kutkhiny Baty were formed several thousand years ago by volcanic eruptions, out of light and whitish pumice stone.

🏔It is home to foxes, bobcats, snow rams, wolves, and others. Bears are also found in the vicinity. In the waters of the river Ozernaya and in the Kuril Lake, from which it flows out, are found many species of fish - pink salmon, chum salmon, and others.

🏔According to the legend, the Kutkhiny Baty are large boats set up for drying and forgotten by the raven Kutkh. And the native people of Kamchatka, the Itelmens, called their long boats bats. Hence the name of the sight came from here.

🏔The rocks are very fragile. If you touch them, they begin to crumble with small stones. Loud noises also harm these rocks. The acoustics here are great, and some tourists start singing or shouting, enjoying how clear their voice sounds. But these actions damage and destroy the Kutkhiny Baty.
