Nikolay Andreev works at the Steklov Institute of Mathematics of the Russian Academy of Sciences. He heads the laboratory for the popularization and propaganda of mathematics. Previously, his laboratory has already won the Presidential Prize in the field of science and innovation, as well as the Gold Medal of the Russian Academy of Sciences for outstanding achievements in promoting scientific knowledge.
The laureate stated that the traditions of mathematical education and popularization of mathematics developed in the 20th century are one of the main riches of Russia, and the winning of the Leelavati Award indicates how highly the Russian mathematical school is rated at the international level.
