💎The world's largest diamond deposit is located in Yakutia, Russia. The "Mir" diamond mine reaches a depth of 535 meters, its upper diameter is 1200 meters, and the length of the spiral road that leads to the very bottom is 7 km and 700 meters.

💎The mine was opened in 1955. In 1957 the working settlement of Mirny grew up near the diamond-bearing vein. In 1959 Mirny received the city status. The "Mir" quarry produced $17 billion worth of diamonds between 1957 and 2001.

💎The "Mir" kimberlite pipe largest diamond was found in 1981. It weighs 342.5 carats (68.5 grams).

💎Like any miracle, the "Mir" diamond quarry is overgrown with legends – it is said that one feels dizzy at the very bottom of the mine, and one begins to experience euphoria when he goes upstairs. People believe that the mine beckons and hypnotizes its visitors, it looks like a bottomless abyss. The quarry is closed for an indefinite period at the moment, but this does not prevent it from being one of the most striking sights of industrial tourism in Yakutia.

🔸The religion of the indigenous Buryats is shamanism. Traditionally, this Siberian people worshipped nature spirits and gods. Tourists, coming to Baikal, still meet shamans in small villages and large cities. They believe that shamans of Buryatia can cure disease, drive away evil spirits, predict the future and do rituals for good luck.

🔸Historically the Buryats lived in portable and permanent yurts called ger. Portable yurts consisted of a frame and felt, while the construction of permanent yurts used wood. Among the Buryats there were many craftsmen working with leather, wool, wood and metal. Women were engaged in embroidering patterns and wool knitting.

🥣Traditional dishes are made of meat and spices, but a special place in Buryat cuisine is occupied by fish, namely the local delicacy - Baikal smoked omul. If you are a guest in a Buryat house, you will certainly get a dairy treat from the hands of the hosts. Milk products are sacred in this region, mostly because of its white color - a symbol of purity, happiness and prosperity.

The land of ten thousand lakes and thousands of waterfalls, the lost land - this is the name of the Putorana Plateau, which is located in Siberia. The territory of the plateau is notable for its relief: it is formed by the hardened lava of a supervolcano that exploded 252 million years ago.

The Putorana is the second largest trap plateau in the world and covers 250,000 square kilometers, which is comparable to the territory of Great Britain. The geographical center of the Russian Federation (Lake Vivi) and the most inaccessible point of the country are also located here at the same time.

In 1988, the Putoransky Reserve was opened on the plateau. Initially, it was created to save the bighorn ram, an endemic of the plateau, listed in the Red Book. Today, other rare species are protected in the reserve, for example, wild reindeer.
In 2010, the reserve was recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site due to the unique combination of ecosystems: the Arctic desert, taiga, and forest tundra coexist on the plateau.
