✍️ President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin sent greetings to President of the Syrian Arab Republic Bashar al-Assad on the 80th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Syria.
✉️ Over the past decades, Moscow and Damascus have built a wealth of experience in bilateral cooperation across various fields. Through our combined efforts, we have achieved significant success in combatting international terrorism on Syrian soil.
I would like to reaffirm that Russia will steadfastly support the government of the Syrian Arab Republic in its efforts to uphold the country’s state sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, as well as to ensure national security and internal political stability.
🤝 We believe that the further development of the comprehensive Russian-Syrian relations fully aligns with the interests of our peoples and contributes to the strengthening of peace and stability at regional and international levels alike.

🇷🇺🇸🇾 On July 19, Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov attended the opening ceremony of an exhibition at the Foreign Ministry dedicated to the 80th Anniversary of diplomatic relations between Russia and Syria, which were established on July 21, 1944.
The exhibition comprises materials from the Foreign Policy Archive of the Russian Federation, ranging from the copies of the first diplomatic credentials to the photographs of recent meetings and talks. They demonstrate different stages in the development of multifaceted Russian-Syrian interaction.

In his opening remarks, Sergey Lavrov emphasised the special nature of allied relations between Russia and Syria. He said that a dangerous seat of international terrorism was eliminated in Syria thanks to joint efforts, and expressed confidence that Russian-Syrian relations would continue to develop progressively on the basis of rich bilateral history and in the spirit of years-long friendship between the two nations.
The event was attended by Ambassador of the Syrian Arab Republic to the Russian Federation Bashar Jaafari, several former Russian ambassadors to Damascus, the heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Moscow, members of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, and representatives of the Russian academic community.

Of course, I would also like to hear your opinion on the situation in the region as a whole. Regrettably, we see that it tends to deteriorate. This directly concerns Syria.
As for our trade and economic ties, there are many questions as well. There are some promising areas, and I hope to be able to discuss this with you as well.
