The negatives of travelling to Maldives 🇲🇻

I’ve not announced it yet, but in August under the pressure of inner frustration and emotional drain I felt the urge to learn something new, something I can do for hours…and that morphed into new education. Soon I am completing my course in tourism. 🤩Given that, let me share my impressions and professional point of view concerning the disadvantages ➖of having a vacation in Maldives.(even though I consider this country to be a paradise and honestly, it’s tough to be completely unbiased).

❤️The reef or rather lack of it. If you’ve chosen a hotel located on the North Atoll, there’s a risk you won’t see a myriad of sea creatures. Last year we saw mainly reef sharks 🦈 and some colourful fish, but this time on another island the reef was empty and for some people it may be a dissatisfaction.

❤️🧑‍🍳Cuisine, for sure. If you opt for standard 5*or lower, Indian 🇮🇳 cuisine is likely to dominate the food in the buffet шведский стол. The thing is that Sri-Lanka and India are nearby, so Maldives are predominantly influenced by their local features особенности. If you’re not a fan of that stuff, then choose Turkey lavish resorts.

❤️Maldives are pricey. After scanning hundreds of reviews on Booking.com, I noticed that almost everywhere guests complained about the overpriced services. I just wonder 💭…What were they expecting ? If you desire superb первоклассный spa 🧖 every day cheaper than 100 dollars 💵, it’s more sensible to fly to Thailand and indulge yourself. Motorised water sports are also expensive.

❤️The journey itself is exhausting. Several flights with stopovers пересадками or a direct 8-hour one from Moscow followed by a speedboat or a hydroplane may steal one day from your precious holiday time.

❤️Boredom on the island. However, it is easy to refute this misconception. Some hotels are gigantic and kids-oriented. Others are 18+ especially for those craving for жаждущих nightlife and parties 🎉.
For me Maldives have always been more about romantic vibes and retreat.
