We are looking for a Front-End Developer to build, maintain and enhance our next generation daily fantasy sports app with us. Daily life of a Front-End developer at Knipster
• Brief and smart meetings in an Agile context
• Discuss design patterns for new components and logic (code is the easy part)
• Write ES6, JSX and Elm, as needed
• Look around to improve the Open Source libraries we use and actively interact with the communities
• Don't comment your code, but document it
• Expect effective code reviews
• Use Git. We mean, really use it: not just commit and push!
Responsibilities
• Turning our mockups into a tangible user experience
• Building reusable code and libraries for use on the different platforms, from native (iOS, Android) to the web
• Solve the architectural challenge to create an optimal user experience on various platforms while keeping the code base slim
• Optimization of the applications for maximum speed and scalability
• Design of our REST APIs hand in hand with our back-end developers
Skills and Qualifications
• Open source code projects and code to show off (be it on GitHub, Sourceforge, ...)
• Proficient understanding of JavaScript/ES6, including classes and prototypical inheritance
• Basic exposure to or keen interest in functional languages like Haskell, Erlang, Elm, Scala, F#, ...
• Basic knowledge of at least one statically and strongly typed language
• Confident in writing testable code, regardless of the framework used
• Ideally experience with any framework used in the front-end, from Angular to Vue, HyperHTML, or even your own home-made solution
• Proficient understanding of HTML5 and CSS3
• Proficient user of server-side CSS pre-processors (LESS, SASS, Stylus, ...) and patterns (OCSS, SMACSS, BEM, ...)
• Strong sense of web design and attuned to the fundamentals of user experience
• Strong knowledge of web standards and knack of adhering to best design practices
• Good understanding of browser rendering behavior and performance
• Familiarity with front-end build tools (task runners, JS bundlers, module loaders, ...)
• Proficient understanding of distributed code versioning tools, such as Git or Mercurial
• Knowledgeable about agile workflows and tools such as JIRA Software
