2.3.3. На английском языке информация о значениях высоты, высоты облачности, видимости и дальности видимости на ВПП (RVR), если это целые сотни и целые тысячи, передается путем произношения каждой цифры, обозначающей количество сотен или тысяч, за которым, соответственно, следуют слова HUNDRED или THOUSAND.

Yeah, it means that 10.000 feet sounds like “one zero thousand feet”, for example, “Pobeda 219, descend to one zero thousand feet”. 12.000 feet sounds like “one two thousand feet”, for instance, “Aeroflot 123, descend to one two thousand feet”.

Maybe it looks strange for you, but following the documents is the best way how to make aviation safer. Of course, 10.000 feet is not used so frequently due to existence of transition altitude and transition level. More often it is FL100, not altitude 10.000 feet, but it depends on local airspace structure. In Moscow transition level is FL110/120/130 according to Vnukovo’ QNH (check АИП for that), that’s why “Inside 350, descend to one zero thousand feet, QNH 1003” can be easily instructed for pilots by an ATC 🙂

There are 4 main forces acting on aircraft in flight:

⬆️ lift and ⬇️ weight, ➡️ engine thrust and ⬅️ drag.

Aircraft practical ceiling
states for maximum altitude flying at which with maintaining constant speed excess of engine thrust still exists and make it possible for aircraft to have positive vertical speed (climbing).

Aircraft theoretical ceiling states for maximum altitude flying at which with maximum (or the most advantageous) speed vertical speed equals zero (horizontal flight) and there is no excess of engine thrust.

Also there is a term aircraft dynamical ceiling. It states for maximum altitude which may be reached with the help of kinetic energy. There is a minimum required velocity head (pressure or rush) in order to provide controllability of an aircraft.
