We met with Johnathan back in 2010 during the Deus Ex Human Revolution development. Seeing his personal project now leaves some duality:

For me the 3C (Character, Camera, Controls) are crucial pillars. This game fucked up with them as bad as it can be. The demo was unplayable with the mouse. The character movement and camera were always off.

And then level design kicked in: they literally limited the movement with 45 cm tall fence. The perimeter, your hero can't step over. There's no jumping. In a realistic 2025 game.

“Cocoon: Aru Natsu No Shoujo-Tachi Yori” is great. Short anti-war drama set in Japan in 1945. An antipode of Les Grandes Grandes Vacances, telling how war feels from the losing side, where even kids feel no future or redemption.
