❓ Kommersant newspaper.
Mr. President, you are working towards achieving a peace treaty for Armenia and Azerbaijan, but I would like to ask, what about your own country?
You have repeatedly said that Russia is ready for talks with Ukraine, but Vladimir Zelensky, for one, has issued an executive order prohibiting him to talk with you. Besides, there are no points of intersection in view, as I see it, which would make it possible to come to terms.
What specifically, from your point of view, could Russia offer Ukraine at these talks, which would form the basis for an agreement?
💬 Vladimir Putin: To be able to put forth any proposals, it is necessary that these talks take place. Besides, it is not always expedient in terms of one’s national aims to put one’s negotiating position on the table in advance. Sometimes, this is the last thing you do. A better option is to put forward what diplomats call initial demands and then gradually advance towards a common denominator that would suit both sides.
But in order to reach agreements, you should sit down at the negotiating table and talk. We came to terms with them in Istanbul, but they later threw everything into the rubbish bin. And now, as you have rightly said, they have forbidden themselves from talking with us about anything. How can we now discuss possible agreements if the other party is not even willing to talk to us?
We will wait; perhaps some necessary conditions will develop eventually. Our goodwill is well known, it is not subject to any change or doubt.
❓ After the terrorist attack on the Crimean Bridge, you said that any repeated attacks would invite Russia’s commensurate response. Are today’s concentrated strikes aimed at Ukrainian territory a response to the recent events in Sevastopol?
💬 Vladimir Putin: Yes, in part this is the case. But this is not the limit of what we could do.
❓ Good afternoon. Alexander Yunashev, Life.
Mr President, with reference to possible or impossible peace talks with Zelensky. You were asked several times whether or not you would go to the G20 summit, where Zelensky is likely to be present as well. You said several times that the decision was not yet taken. Has it perhaps been taken already?
And what about Thailand? Will you attend the APEC summit?
💬 Vladimir Putin: No, these decisions are still pending.
But since we are departing further and further from the topic of today’s talks and the subject of today’s talks, I think it is time we call it a day.
Thank you very much!

#Ukraine
It is obvious that Kiev is not ready for dialogue. Vladimir Zelensky churns out all kinds of ideas and peace formulas, with the illusion of succeeding, with the Western assistance, in achieving the withdrawal of our troops from the Russian territories in Donbass, Crimea, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, making Russia pay reparations, voluntarily surrender to international tribunals, etc.
👉 Of course, we will not discuss conditions of this kind with anyone.
#OSCE
Let me tell you right away that the situation within the OSCE has been quite challenging. Created as a platform for promoting equitable dialogue and cooperation, this organisation has been going through a deep crisis these past few years.
We are now reaping the fruits of this selfish, short-sighted policy of our former partners. Our trust in them has suffered a major blow. One of the lessons is that if and when we ever start working together again, we will have to build new foundations because the past approaches are no longer working.
#JCPOA
The model we suggested was straightforward and clear: the United States and Iran move to meet each other halfway at the same time by gradually returning to compliance with the JCPOA. All details were worked out. This is a realistic scenario as long as there is political will to carry it out.
The fact that with the finishing line in sight, the United States and Europeans ran out of gas and focused on efforts to destabilise the internal political situation in Iran is another story.
☝️ Meanwhile, it is a fact of life that there is no reasonable alternative to the JCPOA.

🎙 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s remarks and answers to media questions during a joint news conference with Foreign Minister of Belarus Sergey Aleinik following the meeting of the Boards of the Foreign Ministries of Russia and Belarus
📍 Minsk, January 19, 2023

We share the view that the collective West has actually turned Ukraine into a bridgehead for the continued military-political cultivation of the post-Soviet space and for subversive activities against the Union State. This is creating a direct threat to the vital interests of Russia and Belarus.
☝️ However, in practice this Western blitzkrieg did not succeed either in Russia or Belarus.
#OSCE
I mentioned what was done to suppress information about the flagrant violation of international humanitarian law in the east of Ukraine as a result of the Kiev regime’s activities. The West remained silent on this topic, covering up these misdeeds.
The OSCE principles and its institutions are being discredited by the Special Representative on Freedom of the Media who keeps increasingly silent when it comes to obvious infractions on the part of the Ukrainian regime or its Western sponsors.
#NATO
Not only did the West ignore these warnings and start to develop (militarily) Ukrainian territory, but it also widely encouraged, in theory and practice, the neo-Nazi manifestations of the Ukrainian regime following the coup, which (judging by it all) could not have taken place without the consent (or even support) of the United States.
#Ukraine
All of that unfolded against the background of Zelensky’s ensuing moves who, just like Poroshenko, was elected under the banner of bringing peace to Donbass. Instead of following up on his election promises, he instantly did an about-face and declared in August 2021 that if someone identifies as a Russian in terms of culture, language or traditions, they should clear out for Russia. All of that was unfolding amid total silence on the part of the West, or rather, was encouraged by it.

💬President of Russia Vladimir #Putin:
🔹Those in power in the #West do not care who to bet on in the fight against Russia.
🔹The West is using #Ukraine both as a battering ram against Russia & as a firing range.
❗️ The more long-range Western systems come to Ukraine, the further away we will be forced to push the threat from our borders.

#RT: Elon Musk Dubs 2014 #Ukraine Regime Change A ‘Coup’
Twitter CEO Elon #Musk polarized his followers with a tweet declaring there was “no question” that the 2014 change of government in Ukraine was a “coup.” On Saturday, the billionaire tweeted that while “the election” – presumably referring to the 2010 vote that elected Viktor Yanukovich president – was “arguably dodgy,” what followed “was indeed a coup.”
The tweet responded to a post from user @KanekoaTheGreat that featured the front page of an article by the University of Chicago Professor John Mearsheimer titled “Why the Ukraine Crisis Is The West’s Fault.” Dating from 2014, the piece – subtitled “The Liberal Delusions That Provoked Putin” – argues that “NATO enlargement” and Western meddling in Ukrainian politics, and not “Russian aggression,” are to blame for Crimea’s accession to Russia.

🎙 Foreign Minister Sergey #Lavrov’s remarks at a plenary meeting of the #G20 Ministerial Council on multilateralism, global economy and development (New Delhi, March 2, 2023):
💬 We stand in solidarity with New Delhi’s call to build a common future for humanity, which is especially important in the context of growing geopolitical confrontation. We share the practical objectives of strengthening multilateralism and overcoming global economic crises set during India’s Presidency.
❗️ I would like to apologise to the Presidency and our colleagues from the Global South for the improper behaviour of a number of Western delegations, which turned the discussion on the G20 agenda into a travesty in an attempt to shift their responsibility for failures in economic policy to others, primarily Russia. It’s kind of funny that the representatives of the countries whose leaders admitted that they have been sabotaging the UN Security Council resolution and flooding #Ukraine with weapons for war against Russia since 2015 were trying so hard.
The aggressive #Russophobia appears particularly outrageous given that the G20 Western members have never grieved at the G20 meetings over the many hundreds of thousands of lives lost in Washington’s reckless adventures in the Middle East under the pretext of national security threats that came from places 10,000 miles away from the US borders.
☝️We see no alternative to the sole legitimate international order that is embodied in the #UNCharter’s basic principles.
⛔️ It’s time to stop playing the food card. Today, the bulk of grain supplies from Ukraine are being shipped at giveaway fodder prices to the EU, rather than to the poorest countries that need them. Without any scruples, the #West is burying the UN Secretary-General’s well-known humanitarian initiative.
🤝 We will continue to make a major contribution to ensuring economic stability. We are open to an equitable dialogue at the G20. We hope that the Delhi summit in September will at least mitigate the risks created by the self-serving Western policies.
