In view of the forthcoming Russia Day and today's Peter the Great’s 350th anniversary as an episode of our special series we would like to tell you about the Bronze Horseman.

The statue of Peter the Great unveiled in 1782 in the Senate Square in St.Petersburg is currently one of the city’s main landmarks.

Thanks to Alexander Pushkin and his narrative poem of the same name, since 1833 the monument has been known in Russia as the “Copper Horseman” though the statue is made of bronze.
