💃 On 19 October the State Kremlin Palace was again a center of attraction for dance fans - it hosted the “VI Kremlin Cup”, which has already become a symbol of the Russian ballroom dancing.

23 couples in the group of the professionals including representatives from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Romania, Uzbekistan, Croatia, and South Africa took part in the event.

🇿🇦The performance of the South African couple Mira-Elena Tokarenko and Ryno van den Berg was dedicated to the end of their thirty-year dancing career. They chose for this occasion the Moscow parquet on which Ryno had been performing in Russia for many years. This time it was an amazingly beautiful pasodoble, with absolutely stunning playing by Ryno's cape.

👏 Our congratulations to the couple on their successful participation in the event and completion of their career!

🤍💙❤️Where to stroll in St Petersburg in the fall? Travel tips.

▪️ The Summer Garden was Peter the Great's favorite creation and a triumph of landscape design at the time. Marble sculptures, slender alleys with gazebos, a colorful variety of fall foliage – the park looks especially bright in this season. And, if you get cold, there are many cafes along the way, where you can hide from the weather.

▪️ Mikhailovsky Garden. Near the Mikhailovsky Palace (Russian Museum), in the very center of the city, there is also a cozy garden. From there, you can enjoy views of the Church of the Savior on the Blood, the Griboedov Canal and the Ethnographic Museum. In the garden itself, the Rossi pavilion from 1825 with columns and a terrace has been well preserved.

▪️ The views of St. Isaac's Cathedral are impressive, both inside and out. And, if you climb the colonnade, you'll see the whole city in fall colours.

▪️ The Peter and Paul Fortress is the first structure of St. Petersburg. Today, it is a UNESCO monument and one of the most interesting museums in the city. And, every midday, the traditional noon shot is fired from the Naryshkin Bastion.

▪️ Yelagin island. This island in the northern part of St. Petersburg belonged to statesman Ivan Yelagin in the 16th century. There, he built a luxurious palace and laid out a park in the English style. However, already in the 19th century, the palace passed to the Imperial Romanov family and the park was opened to all comers. The park is divided by many ponds, channels and canals and you can walk around it all day long.

🎼Watch Rammstein leader Till Lindemann singing the Soviet song ‘Lyubimy Gorod’ in Russian. The single was released in 2021 for the original motion picture “Devyatayev.”

🎹 Translated as “Beloved Town,” the piano-led ballad was composed by Yevgeniy Dolmatovsky (lyrics) and Nikita Bogoslovsky. It was originally performed by Mark Bernes in 1939.

✈️ The movie “Devyatayev,” directed by Timur Bekmambetov, is about the Soviet pilot Mikhail Devyatayev (1917 – 2002), who was captured by Germany during World War II. He leads an escape from a concentration camp on the island of Uzedom in the Baltic Sea by hijacking an aircraft.

✍️ #Opinion of US Prof. John Mearsheimer on the XVI #BRICS Summit in an interview with the ‘Judging Freedom’ channel:

Not only did the sanctions not work against Putin, our attempt to isolate him internationally, and turn him into a pariah has categorically failed.

Is there a better example of this failure than the BRICS conference? I mean there’re just all sorts of countries there, including India which is a democracy that the United States cares greatly about, that is breaking bread with the Russians. So I think what's going on is more evidence that Putin is in the driver's seat, he beats sanctions, he's winning on the battlefield, he's not a pariah, and BRICS is an impressive institution that shows lots of evidence that it's going to grow more impressive with the passage of time. This is bad news for the United States and good news for Putin.
