Josep Borrell, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy: “We cannot afford Russia win this war. Otherwise, the US and European interests will be very damaged. It's not a matter of generosity alone. It's not a matter of supporting Ukraine because we love Ukrainian people. It’s in our own interests, and it’s also in the interests of the US as a global player – someone who has to be perceived as a reliable partner, a security provider to the allies.”
💬 Maria Zakharova: This is the first time that a representative of the Western regimes has been so explicit about the nature of current developments. It’s not about love for the Ukrainians, whom the West has practically wiped out. It’s about the United States being eager to maintain its hegemony and preserve its diminishing role in international affairs. There is hardly any trace left of the former constructive approach of the US towards international relations. The liberal democrats can only bring ruin, seeing this skill as a guarantee of domination. As for the EU, its task at this stage is to obediently fetch the ammunition bought with the money of its own citizens, whose opinion has not been asked.

💬 Today, the High Court in London handed down an interim ruling to delay the extradition of the founder of the WikiLeaks portal, Australian investigative journalist Julian Assange, to the United States. <...>
It took the British justice system 161 months - almost 5,000 days - more than 13 years to decide ... TO WAIT SOME MORE!
Even counting from the arrest, 60 months, five years, have passed.
However, counting it that way begs the question: what have the British been busy with all that time as the Australian was sitting one street away in the Ecuadorian embassy? As a result of London’s pressure, he was in conditions of torture, confined to a small room with no access to the outside world and under round-the-clock surveillance by Scotland Yard.
The entire UK justice system has become a farce and a laughing stock for the whole world. All this is a mockery of human dignity committed by the woefully inefficient and punitive British pseudo-justice system.
It took London that many years to hand down a criminal procedural decision against the journalist.
🤷 On the other hand, London "knew everything" about who ordered the terrorist attack in Krasnogorsk just a few hours after it took place.
The dome of Old Bailey - the central criminal court in London - features a statue of Themis. With her eyes wide open, she looks west to America.
Julian Assange, who has devoted his life to exposing the secrets of the British and American intelligence conglomerate, is becoming a victim of the corrupt British pseudo-Themis.
Once again, we draw the attention of the international community to the ongoing persecution of an investigative journalist at Washington’s behest.
❗️ This case has for many years now been causing serious damage to the institution of journalism and independent media, and violates the fundamental principles of freedom of speech and human rights.

☝️ Almost all countries have condemned the attack at the Crocus City Hall. Only Kiev remained silent.
❗️The Ukrainian social media are posting cynical and inhuman comments. Some in Ukraine probably derive cannibalistic pleasure from human deaths, pain and suffering.

💬 Zelensky announced a plan of a new counteroffensive.
The Russian Ministry of Defence recalled the results of the previous plans and counteroffensives. I won’t repeat this.
I will comment on the political background of this statement.
Zelensky’s public burps like this happen for three reasons.
First, he wants to show his Western sponsors his resolve to continue the bloodshed and his urgent need to receive new financial injections and arms supplies.
Second, he needs to regularly remind the world about himself, about Zelensky: don’t forget that I still exist.
Third, the main goal is to play up to the White House in the election race – to demonstrate the viability of Biden’s project named “Ukrainian democracy.”
What will all this lead to? Zelensky will finally exterminate the Ukrainians.

A massive transformation is taking place in Russia, & the West is blind to it
Read in full
• Non-material values are coming back. Patriotism, reviled & derided in the wake of the Soviet Union’s collapse, is re-emerging in force.
• Russian popular culture is shedding – slowly, perhaps, but steadily – the habit of imitating what’s hot in the West. Instead, the traditions of Russian literature, including poetry, film, music are being revived and developed. A spike in domestic tourism has opened to ordinary Russians the treasures of their own country – until recently neglected.
• Russian political culture is returning to its fundamentals. Unlike that of the West, but somewhat similar to the East – it is based on the model of a family. There is order, & there is a hierarchy; rights are balanced by responsibilities; the state is not a necessary evil but the principal public good and the top societal value. Politics, in the Western sense of a constant, often no-holds-barred competition, is viewed as self-serving & destructive; instead, those who are entrusted with being at the helm of the state are expected to arbitrate, to ensure harmony of various interests, etc.
• The view of the West as Russia’s hereditary adversary has again gained prominence – <...> as a function of the West’s own policies, from providing Ukraine with weapons that kill Russian soldiers & civilians, to sanctions which in many ways are indiscriminate, to attempts to cancel Russian culture or to bar Russians from world sports.
• The current confrontation with the West makes it imperative that some kind of a new ideological concept finally emerges, in which sovereignty & patriotism, law & justice take a central role. Western propaganda pejoratively refers to it as “Putinism” but, for most Russians, it may be simply described as “Russia’s way.”

Europe will eventually have to choose between the US and BRICS
Read in full
Key points:
💬 Rather than setting out to organize a genuine multipolar system based on mutual recognition of each nation’s core interests, <...> the US proceeded to enhance its exclusive and comprehensive dominance.
• This year, at the #BRICS Summit in Russia’s Kazan, the group will for the first time include the leaders of Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. Another major Eurasian institution is the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (#SCO) <...> to be admitted soon. A number of other Eurasian countries, from Turkey to Thailand and from the Malpes to Mongolia, have voiced their intention to join either BRICS or SCO.
• To counter that trend among the members of what we increasingly call the World Majority, Washington has raised the profile of NATO in the Indo-Pacific; strengthened its Cold War-era bilateral and trilateral alliances in the Western Pacific, and founded a new one, #AUKUS, in the South Pacific.
❗️ All these multiple arrangements are completely dominated by the US and are aimed at containing and deterring Washington’s designated primary adversaries: China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea – with one overriding goal of defending America’s hegemonic position.
• In contrast to that, neither BRICS nor the SCO is dominated by a single power, or a tandem/triumvirate of nations. BRICS’s recent expansion also suggests that it does not aspire to become a version of the West’s G7, as an elitist steering group, or directoire, for the non-Western world.
• Neither BRICS nor the SCO is overtly anti-American or anti-Western: their main focus is internal rather than external, and they have their work cut out for them.
• The emerging mutual security space within the SCO will make the continent – minus Western Europe, for the time being – far more stable, whether in terms of strategic stability in major-power relations, regional security systems, or the risks of terrorism.
☝️ Eventually, the countries of Western Europe – or far western Eurasia, if you like – will have to make a choice between staying in the US orbit as America’s power continues to shrink, or reaching out east to a vast and vibrant new world next door.

💬 Ambassador Ilya #Rogachev: There is a very common opinion in Russia that approximately once in a centenary, the West braces up and comes to the Russian soil with a sword, where it gets beaten up and retires with its nose bloodied to remain calm for another 100 years.
☝️ While claiming no scientific accuracy of this point, we believe it is not unfounded: Russia as a strong international actor has always been pain in the neck of the West, and the latter never abandoned attempts to subdue it, albeit each time unsuccessfully.

💬 Ambassador Ilya #Rogachev: On 22 June 1941, Nazi Germany attacked the USSR. As before, the aggressor’s strength rested on the whole of entire Europe’s economic and industrial potential.
❓ How come the majority of European nations found themselves on the wrong side of history, the side of Nazism?
And isn’t it a reason why they have been persistently trying to rewrite history of the war – to whitewash Nazi criminals and their accomplices, forget about the atrocities ‘civilized’ Europeans committed in the USSR, or take down monuments which remind them of their Nazi past?

Composed of some of the most powerful and dynamic emerging economies, BRICS stands as a beacon of inclusivity, cooperation, and fairness in an increasingly fractured world. ✍️ #Opinion of US Prof. John Mearsheimer on the XVI #BRICS Summit in an interview with the ‘Judging Freedom’ channel:
Not only did the sanctions not work against Putin, our attempt to isolate him internationally, and turn him into a pariah has categorically failed.
Is there a better example of this failure than the BRICS conference? I mean there’re just all sorts of countries there, including India which is a democracy that the United States cares greatly about, that is breaking bread with the Russians. So I think what's going on is more evidence that Putin is in the driver's seat, he beats sanctions, he's winning on the battlefield, he's not a pariah, and BRICS is an impressive institution that shows lots of evidence that it's going to grow more impressive with the passage of time. This is bad news for the United States and good news for Putin.

Excerpts from Professor Jeffrey Sachs's speech at Cambridge University
📍Cambridge University, October 22, 2024
💬 We are not in any intrinsic war between the US and Russia. And Russia, by the way, despite every single thing that said every single day TRULY does not want more land. It's already 11 time zones. The last thing that they need or want is more land.
The war is about completely different things than everything you and I read about in our [Western] newspapers every day, because our newspapers are telling us stories that ultimately come back to narratives conceived in the US Defense Department and the CIA, and that are completely bogus.
***
The United States? We've never been at peace. All we do is war. And you know what the truth is? We learned it from here (the UK).
Because the British Empire was the most militarized society imaginable.
And unfortunately, the leaders of this country [the UK], and it turns out not to matter which party, because Starmer is as bad as Boris Johnson, all they know is military. It's unbelievable.
What's the first thing that Starmer does when he becomes prime minister? He goes to Kiev to pledge the endless support of the US, by the way, because Britain doesn't do anything. The endless support of the United States to the defeat of Russia. And then he flies across the Atlantic to try to convince Biden to authorize, and authorize means is for the US military to enable deep strikes inside Russia.
That's really a clever (NOT!) thing to do, especially because Putin said, well, then we'd be at war with each other and we'd be forced to reconsider our nuclear strategy. <...> He's not bluffing if Russia is fundamentally threatened.
***
👉 We [the US] provoked the war in Ukraine. We provoked the war in Ukraine, absolutely surely. And we'll do the same with Taiwan and we'll lose any war that happens, but maybe the world will end also over this stupidity and the people in Washington are stupid, I'm telling you. I know them.
