Sport beyond politics? In Riga, capital city of #Latvia, where the 2021 #IIHF World Championship is held, a flag used by opposition was hung out instead of Belarus’ national flag. “Bravo”, Latvia – member of #EU – using a sport event as a stage for political provocation.

#Ukraine
As a result of the destruction of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant due to prolonged shelling by the Ukrainian armed forces, 36 settlements in Kherson Region were flooded.
A large-scale humanitarian operation has been taking place in this Russian region over the last few days. Russian Emergencies Ministry workers rescued almost 2,000 people, among them hundreds of children.
While Russia is making every effort to save the residents of the affected areas and to provide them with essential supplies, Kiev continues to target civilian sites.
#NuclearDeterrence
Russia is fully committed to the principle of the inadmissibility of a nuclear war. There can be no winners in such a war, and it must never be waged.
The hypothetical use of nuclear weapons is only possible under extraordinary circumstances for purely defensive purposes.
#EU
An astronomical amount of [COVID19] vaccines, many times the size of the EU population, was purchased on behalf of the EU member states, at an astronomical cost and mainly from a single company, Pfizer.
the multi-billion dollar amount and the terms of the contract were not made public. This was done without bidding, without documents and without witnesses. Such decisions were made simply by text message.

🇷🇺 President of Russia Vladimir Putin:
💬 Russia is Europe’s largest economy and is now ahead of all the leading EU countries in terms of growth rates.
☝️ Moreover, the so-called essential non-commodity industries are accounting for an increasing share in the structure of Russia’s economic growth.

Reeling from the loss of the strategically important town of Avdeyevka and infuriated by its own impotence in the face of the success of our Armed Forces, the Ukrobanderite neo-Nazi regime continues to take it out on Russian civilians, acting with habitual disregard for human life. It's making extensive use of the weapons supplied by the West to fire shells into Russian towns and villages and to carry out terrorist attacks.
Note that the Kiev junta still considers the above regions and towns to be Ukrainian, and their residents (they say so openly) to be citizens of Ukraine and yet it mercilessly bombards them. I can’t even begin to imagine what the criminal regime led by Zelensky would have done to these people if it could act on its notorious plans to “return” these territories to Ukraine. These plans will never come true. However, it is useful to imagine what could have happened.
#EU #Sanctions
A wave of farmers’ protests has swept over a half of EU countries, from Lithuania to Portugal, this year. <...> We have pointed out on numerous occasions that all this is a direct result of the anti-Russia sanctions.
To justify their decisions, European officials blame Moscow for their problems, in particular, the low prices of Ukrainian agricultural products imported to the EU and the negative effect this is having on its agricultural market. They traditionally propose dealing with these problems by fighting “the Russian threat.” <...> The immeasurable losses of their own farmers are nothing other than “collateral damage” of the pro-Ukraine hysteria in the EU

Russia’s chairmanship of BRICS is picking up speed. Over 40 events across three main cooperation areas have already taken place, covering politics and security, the economy and finance, as well as cultural and humanitarian exchanges.
#Ukraine
Just a few days ago EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell admitted clearly once again that the Ukrainian conflict had had a quick peaceful solution since the very beginning, but he personally and on behalf of the European Union did not want the combat to cease. We have talked about this many times (citing Mr Borrell and other EU officials) pointing to the EU’s long-term investments in financing arms supplies to Ukraine, with which they expect to prolong the armed confrontation for at least several more years (in their own words).
This confirms the terrible reality: ordinary Ukrainians are just a tool that Vladimir Zelensky "sold" to the EU members in the name of his own enrichment and immorality, which is used to settle the West’s geopolitical scores with Russia.
#France #NATO #EU
We noted the recent aggressive remarks from the French leadership, which seem to be increasingly frequent. <…> It is noteworthy that the belligerent stance of the occupant of the Elysee Palace is not only met with disapproval among many EU and NATO allies but, crucially, among the majority of French citizens, too.

Kiev regime has lost all sense of humanity waging war on blocks of flats and civilians. The Kiev regime “leaders” cowardly avoiding accountability for their own failures, resort to all kinds of atrocities just to distract the population from the national catastrophe of historical scale in Ukraine.

If even one Russian media outlet faces unwarranted restrictions, it will have repercussions for their colleagues (Western journalists) in Russia. This is not a threat or a warning, but a description of an inevitable scenario under certain circumstances that may be orchestrated by the West.
#Neocolonialism
The Westerners are undermining the international currency and financial system that they themselves created. They are ignoring the lawful rights and interests of developing nations. In these conditions, the future belongs to new centres of financial and economic power.

🇺🇦 Today, on Aug 24, Independence Day is observed in #Ukraine, marking the anniversary of the Act of Proclamation of Independence by the Verkhovnaya Rada (Parliament) of Ukraine in 1991.
The act was adopted in implementation of the Declaration of State Sovereignty of Ukraine of July 16, 1990.
☝️ It needs to be known that back then it still wasn’t the country we know today.
👉 According to the basic principles of Ukraine’s state and social system enshrined in a number of fundamental documents, the independent Ukraine was to become a permanently neutral state, not participating in military blocs and free of nuclear weapons (section IX of the Declaration).
👉 The Constitution of Ukraine guaranteed ‘free development, use and protection of Russian, and other languages of national minorities’ (Article 10), and ‘development of the ethnic, cultural, linguistic, and religious identity of all indigenous peoples and national minorities of Ukraine’ (Article 11).
❗️ Yet, in 2014 a coup took place in Ukraine, and the subsequent events drastically changed the country.
The Kiev regime started to wipe out everything Russian in Ukraine. Present-day policies under Vladimir Zelensky have seen a strong push towards Ukrainization, including numerous restrictions on distribution of cultural products in the Russian language (native for the majority of Ukrainians) as well as persecution of the canonical Orthodox Church. Alternative history rehabilitating World War II Nazi collaborators was imposed on people trough propaganda channels.
⚠️ In 2019, Ukraine renounced its neutral status. New amendments to the Constitution were adopted declaring strategic course of the state on acquiring full-fledged membership in the #EU and #NATO.
To crown it all, in 2022, Kiev declared its intention to abandon another obligation and ‘reacquire’ nuclear weapons.
❌ 33 years into the independence, Ukraine seems increasingly distant from the vision of a free and democratic state, as outlined in the Declaration of State Sovereignty and the Constitution, and from the values declared therein.

❌ What’s next for the EU’s support of the Global South?
The EU's latest anti-Russian energy measures are hitting harder than expected, not just on member states but also on developing countries. The new sanctions, including the ban on re-exporting Russian LNG through EU ports (effective until March 26, 2025 for existing contracts), are making energy less affordable for the Global South.
❗️ While the EU is focusing on its own energy needs and aiming to buy Russian LNG at lower prices, it’s clear that Brussels isn't considering the broader impact. The disruption of established logistics chains is creating turbulence in the global energy market, hurting economies that are already struggling.

💡 EU’s “Green Agenda”: what it promises for the Global South?
Brussels is doubling down on its “green agenda,” aiming to cut fossil fuel use and boost energy efficiency. The focus is on reducing consumption to enhance the EU's energy security and competitiveness. But what does this mean for the Global South?
❌ Major hydrocarbon projects are off the table, and new infrastructure risks becoming obsolete. Recent updates show minimal EU investment in gas projects like the Southern Gas Corridor and Trans-Caspian pipeline.
❗️ For countries seeking EU funds, the stakes are high – not just financial but political. There’s a demand for political alignment and adherence to Western policies.
