Talking points:

#Ukraine

No matter how hard Western sponsors may strive to saturate the Kiev regime with weapons in order to inflict the maximum possible harm on Russia, their efforts are in vain. Even more people will perish, if they continue doing this. Unfortunately, the Kiev regime will not calm down and will continue to perpetrate extremist and terrorist attacks all over the world.

#Moldova

Unlike the collective West, Russia is not interfering with Moldova’s internal affairs. It is not asking for anything, nor is it suggesting that it changes or rewrites anything. Russia does not come up with any pre-conditions. Russia complies with existing agreements and works to promote the relations that have not yet been blocked by Maia Sandu and her team. Unfortunately, Russia is witnessing a situation where the people that came to power in Chisinau under completely different slogans are destroying the country.

#HumanRights #NorthernEurope

❗️ Northern Europe nations pose themselves as human rights champions, but in reality the trends as regards human rights situation are quite disturbing. The issues mainly stem from the mass migration, deficiencies in the law enforcement system, the spread of radical neo-liberal ideas and far-right ideologies.

🇸🇪 In Sweden:
• The statistics of hate crimes are alarming: 6-7 thousand cases per year, about 70% of them have xenophobic and racist overtones.
• The situation is still aggravated by heightened activities of aggressive right-wing extremist and neo-Nazi movements.
• Violations against refugees have increased due to the worsening migration crisis.

🇩🇰 In Denmark:
Discriminatory attitudes towards migrants still persist.
• There is a practice of detaining persons who have been refused asylum (this mainly concerns people from Syria).
• The number of religious and racially motivated hate crimes continues to rise.

🇳🇴 In Norway:
Anti-Semitism and Islamophobia are not uncommon.
• A number of radical right groups confessing ideas of national and racial exclusivity operate in the country.
• Human rights activists note the excessive use of isolation and coercive methods in prisons.

🇮🇸 In Iceland:
Sexual violence is widespread. A survey by the University of Iceland found that every fourth Icelandic woman has been raped or sexually assaulted in her lifetime.
• Human rights community notes with concern a rise of hate speech, especially towards ethnic and religious groups and foreign Muslims.
• There is a rise of Russophobia in Icelandic society.

🇫🇮 In Finland:
• Racial discrimination and xenophobia remain a problem.
Right‑wing extremist sentiments are widespread and even growing in society.
• There have also been cases of disproportionate use of coercive measures by law enforcement agencies against participants in peaceful demonstrations.
• Significant growth of discriminatory attitude towards our compatriots has been noted.

🇷🇺 Russian President Vladimir Putin on the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights during his meeting with the Presidential Council for Civil Society and Human Rights:

💬 December 10 marks the 75th anniversary of the adoption by the UN of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Unfortunately, we commemorate this milestone in a challenging situation, as the international system for ensuring and promoting human rights continues to deteriorate.

❗️For eight years, we have been witnessing their helplessness and direct disregard for the gross violations against the people of Donbass.

The human rights bodies not only failed to recognize, but even encouraged manifestations of Russophobia, supporting the countries that rushed to take the lead in this shameful competition of Russophobes.

☝️As you know, Russia withdrew from a number of international human rights organizations, but this does not mean that we are abandoning the principles laid down in the Universal Declaration.

#UNESCO has added five new African sites to the World Heritage List, including the Nelson Mandela Legacy Sites.

🇿🇦 These sites embody South Africa's rich heritage of human rights, freedom, and reconciliation.

🕊 Congratulations to South Africa on the inscription of these poignant sites, which bear witness to the struggle against apartheid and Nelson Mandela's enduring legacy of freedom, human rights, and peace.

🇫🇮 In terms of discrimination, significant shortcomings have been identified with regard to the situation of Finland's indigenous people, the Sami (some 10,000 people in total, with about 2,000 native speakers).

❗️International human rights mechanisms have identified a number of significant shortcomings in the enjoyment of the rights by Finland's indigenous people – the Sami. Most often, attention is focused on problems related to the practical realization of the right to use the Sami language, which is enshrined in legislation.

☝️ The ratification by Finland of the International Labour Organization Convention No. 169 concerning Indigenous and Tribal Peoples, signed by Finland in 1989 along with other countries, has been "in limbo" for a long time. The issue of ratification of the instrument to strengthen the protection of the rights of the Sami people has been repeatedly raised by States during the Universal Periodic Review of Finland at the HRC in November 2022.
