🤝 Sergey Lavrov congratulated his Chinese colleague on his recent appointment to the position of PRC Foreign Minister and wished him new successes in his position. The parties praised the progressive development of Russian-Chinese relations that show stability and positive dynamics amid general geopolitical instability in the world. They focused on the bilateral agenda including implementation of agreements reached at the highest political level.
The Ministers discussed a number of current international issues, noting the general unacceptability of the Western bloc’s confrontational policy towards Russia and China and its attempts to contain their development through sanctions and other illegitimate methods. They positively assessed the constructive dialogue between Moscow and Beijing and the high level of collaboration at the UN, BRICS, SCO, G20, and other international organisations.
They discussed a number of current regional issues, including the Ukraine crisis.
The meeting between the Ministers once again confirmed that Moscow and Beijing have identical or largely concurring approaches towards international affairs. They reaffirmed their commitment to maintain close foreign policy coordination.

🇷🇺🇨🇳 President Vladimir Putin met with Vice Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Zhang Guoqing.
💬 Vladimir Putin: Thanks primarily to the efforts of our governments and business circles, Russia-China relations in this area – the area of economic cooperation – have reached a very high level.
Of course, this is a derivative of what has been achieved in the political sphere, but nevertheless the results are more than good, they are excellent, and every year our trade grows by almost one third.
We highly value and appreciate the fact that, as you mentioned, the President of China made his first foreign visit after his re-election to Russia. This indicates that the relations between Russia and China have reached an unprecedented and historic level in the past few years.

🔹 Palestinian-Israeli conflict

💬 We are extremely concerned about the developments in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone.
The top priority now is a ceasefire and stopping the bloodshed. We support the efforts of all stakeholders to address this critical issue. This would make it possible to avoid new casualties, end the suffering of the civilian population, ensure their evacuation through humanitarian corridors and prevent the situation from sliding into a region-wide humanitarian disaster.
#Ukraine
💬 Against the backdrop of the Middle East events, US Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene suggested that some of the NATO-supplied weapons imported to Ukraine could have been used in the hostilities in Israel.
It is gratifying that the West, albeit fatally late, is beginning to see the light. Some are beginning to realise what is happening, even if only a few people. Russia has long warned the sponsors of the Kiev regime about the high risks of their weapons ending up on the black market and spreading around the world. And that's exactly what has happened.
#RussiaChina
💬 Russia and China speak out against illegitimate unilateral sanctions imposed by Washington and its satellites. We consider them merely a manifestation of their impotent rage against the emerging new democratic multipolar international order.
Moscow and Beijing are interested in developing international trade and economic ties based on mutual benefits and honest competition. We condemn the attempts to achieve one’s own economic prosperity at the expense of others, because it is nothing but colonialism.

🇷🇺🇨🇳 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s opening remarks during talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China Wang Yi (Beijing, April 9, 2024)
💬 We see that thanks to the efforts of our Leaders, #RussiaChina relations of comprehensive partnership and strategic interaction have reached, without any exaggeration, an unprecedented level. With President Vladimir Putin’s re-election, the continuity of the line for their comprehensive strengthening has received additional guarantees.
We noticed the high assessment that you personally gave to ties between Russia and China at a news conference in March of this year. We fully share this assessment.
Our strategic partnership is founded upon the principles of respectful, equitable, and trust-based dialogue, along with mutual support on issues related to the core interests of both countries.
As repeatedly stated by our Leaders, our cooperation has outmatched the military-political alliance of the Cold War era and is not aimed against any third country. The proximity and, in most cases, convergence of Russia and China’s foreign policy approaches to solving the key problems of the modern age are laying the foundation for enhancing strategic coordination on the global scale. Cooperation in international affairs enables us to address common tasks more efficiently both at home and abroad.
🤝 As you said, Mr Minister, we are currently focused on shaping a more just multipolar international order and on promoting inclusive and constructive cooperation formats, such as BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation. Also, we are working to consolidate the nations of the Global South to ensure greater fairness and equality in global affairs.
