🚀 Today at 20:52 (Moscow time) Russia's Souyz-2.1B carrier rocket launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome, carrying 17 satellites to Earth orbit.
Among those is the Iranian satellite #Khayyam tailored for long-distance remote sensing. It comes with a resolution of 1 metre, to be used to bolster management and planning capacities in agriculture, environment, water resources, mining and disaster management.

🤝 Both Leaders expressed satisfaction with the high level of Russian-Iranian relations. They reaffirmed their intention to further develop bilateral ties in trade, energy, transport and logistics, and environmental protection.
They discussed expanding cooperation in international and regional affairs, including considering Iran’s participation as a full member in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation and its interest in joining #BRICS activities.

Ebrahim Raisi thanked Vladimir Putin for supporting Iran's application to join #BRICS. The sides discussed steps to ensure Iran's gradual involvement in BRICS activities, taking into account Russia's chairmanship in 2024.
They had a thorough exchange of views on the Nagorno-Karabakh situation and on normalising relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Vladimir Putin informed the President of Iran about the activities of Russian peacekeeping forces, including the provision of humanitarian aid to civilians, and ensuring the rights and security of Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh.
☝️ The Leaders emphasised the importance of resolving all issues exclusively through peaceful, political and diplomatic means. They expressed a mutual interest in stepping up the work of the 3+3 consultative regional platform (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia plus Russia, Iran and Turkey).
While discussing issues on the bilateral agenda, the presidents expressed satisfaction with the constructive and mutually beneficial nature of Russian-Iranian cooperation. They reaffirmed their intention to further strengthen trade and economic ties, promote major joint projects in the energy and transport sectors, expand contacts between business communities and tourist exchanges.

The Presidents discussed in detail the situation in the Middle East, escalated by Israel’s air strike at the Iranian diplomatic mission in Damascus and Iran’s retaliation measures.
☝️ President Putin expressed hope that all sides will exercise sensible restraint and will not allow a new round of confrontation that may be fraught with disastrous consequences for the entire region.
In turn, Ebrahim Raisi noted that Iran’s actions had been forced and limited. At the same time, he emphasised that Tehran is not interested in further escalation of tensions.
Both leaders stated that the unresolved Palestinian-Israeli conflict was the root cause of the current developments in the Middle East. The presidents confirmed Russia and Iran’s principled stance in favour of immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, alleviation of the grievous humanitarian situation and creation of conditions for a political and diplomatic settlement of the crisis.
