#OTD in 1944, medal “For the Defence of Moscow” was introduced. More than a million of people were honoured with this decoration, both military & civilians, who participated in the Battle of Moscow (30 September 1941- 20 April 1942) – one of the decisive battles of #WWII. The Soviet victory in this battle dispelled the myth of the invincibility of Nazi Germany's war machine & thwarted Hitler's blitzkrieg. It was a turning point for both Great Patriotic War and #WWII. It showed that Nazism can and will be defeated.
