📣Read the extracts from the statement of Russian Permanent Representative to the OSCE Alexander Lukashevich ”On Violations by a Number of Western Participating States OSCE commitments in the field of cultural and historical heritage”, (meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council, 2 June 2022):
➡️Incited by a number of Western OSCE participating States, Russophobia has many ugly manifestations. Among them is the unleashed "war"
with Soviet monuments and memorials. Such actions are inconsistent with the provisions of the CSCE/OSCE commitments to protect cultural

➡️Outrages against Soviet monuments occur in countries that, upon joining the EU, declared their commitment to European democratic values

➡️Since February 2022, there have been about 20 such episodes in Bulgaria. The example of Latvia clearly shows how the European Union and international human rights structures, including the OSCE, turn a blind eye to manifestations of hate speech and open support for neo-Nazism
➡️Lithuania and Estonia have also joined the West's strategy of rewriting history, changing public consciousness and destroying symbols of the past. A terrible picture is observed in Poland, where acts of vandalism against Soviet memorials are regularly recorded.
➡️“The war on monuments” is not only a violation of obligations to preserve the historical and cultural heritage. This is one of the manifestations of the systemic policy of falsification and distortion of history and revision of the results of the Second World War
