⚡️ #Opinion by Maria Zakharova, Russian MFA Spokeswoman

Ukrainian FM Kuleba: “Russian FM Lavrov spreads disinfo by falsely alleging Ukraine wants to restore its nuclear arsenal. Once again: This is a cynical, blatant lie by Russia who itself fires at nuclear facilities in Ukraine. Safe zones must be established around them to prevent disaster in Europe.”

💬 #Zakharova: Just look at what kind of turncoats they are! Simply read their statements, read what the Ukrainian leadership has been saying publicly. There was also more said, behind the scenes.

This is how it goes:

💬 Secretary of the National Security Council Alexander Turchinov, April 2018:
“With all these events behind us, we can draw a conclusion that few will like. Giving up nuclear weapons was our historical mistake. The security guarantees are not even worth the paper on which they were written.”

💬 Head of the Servant of the People parliamentary group Davyd Arakhamia, July 29, 2021:
“I think that Kravchuk made a fatal mistake by getting rid of nuclear weapons after signing a meaningless memorandum. Basically, this mistake has been haunting us ever since. It dwarfs all the other mistakes by all other presidents. Had we been a nuclear power, everyone would have talked to us and sought to reach agreements in a different manner.”

💬 President Vladimir Zelensky, February 19, 2022:
“Since 2014, Ukraine has made three attempts to convene consultations of guarantor countries under the Budapest Memorandum. All three failed. Today, Ukraine is making its fourth attempt, which is my first attempt as President. Make no mistake, this is the last try for me, and for Ukraine. I am seeking to initiate consultations under the Budapest Memorandum, and instructed the Foreign Minister to convene the them. If they do not take place yet again or do not result in security guarantees for our state, Ukraine will have the right to view the Budapest Memorandum as a dead letter, which calls into question the entire package of decisions adopted in 1994.”

#Zakharova: Recently US representatives of various levels are trying to shed responsibility for Russian-US bilateral relations which are nearing a total rupture. The blame is routinely laid on Russia which is accused of escalation because we do not miss blows and always respond to hostile attacks either in-kind or asymmetrically.

Obviously, Washington thinks it normal to expel Russian diplomats on trumped-up charges, seize someone else’s property – or steal it, to put it bluntly, close down our diplomatic missions and then to hypocritically gape at why those “daring Russians” pay in their own coin thus hurting US missions in Russia.

👉 We advise those who follow the Russia-US relations should learn the timeline of aggressive actions against the Russian diplomatic presence. The facts speak for themselves.

❗️We do not dodge dialogue and are ready to hold talks but only on equal terms, on condition there is a reciprocal movement which cannot be seen in Washington even under a magnifying glass.

💬 Russian MFA Spokeswoman Maria #Zakharova on the planned exchange of prisoners of war between the Russian and the Ukrainian Side:

❗️ Ukraine turned down all proposals and agreed-upon positions without explaining its motives.

Before that Russia and Ukraine negotiated a plan for exchanging prisoners of war. It was intended to do everything under the established procedure, as stipulated by humanitarian norms and in cooperation with international organisations.

We have every reason to believe that the situation with captive Russian service personnel (and their condition) leaves much to be desired.

Also: The Kiev regime notified that it does not intend to honour the Geneva Convention.

Not only are Western countries aware of Kiev’s crude violations of international humanitarian law with regard to Russian prisoners of war. They receive all information, and they are also trying to help Ukrainian authorities avoid responsibility.

What can you tell us about UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres saying on July 14 that he was shocked by a rocket fired into the city of Vinnitsa, central Ukraine?

💬 Maria #Zakharova: Indeed, this statement by Antonio Guterres has come to our attention. Here’s what I would like to say.

☝️ According to the Russian Defence Ministry, high-precision Kalibr missiles were used in Vinnitsa targeting a garrison house of officers which at that moment was housing a meeting of the Ukrainian Air Force command with representatives of foreign arms suppliers. The UN is probably aware of that. If not, then we suggest that Mr Guterres ask Ukraine why the Kiev regime is placing military facilities in close proximity to civilian buildings?

This is how the proAmerican ghouls single-mindedly pursued their goal - to destroy the dam.

👉 Strikes by the Armed Forces of Ukraine against the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power plant: a detailed timeline and chronology.

It were these methodical attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the HPP that resulted in the destruction of its structures, which began on June 6, 2023, and the uncontrolled discharge of water from the Kakhovka reservoir downstream of the Dnieper.
