🎙 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s opening remarks at a meeting with Foreign Minister of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan on the sidelines of the CIS Foreign Ministers’ Council Meeting
💬 We consider regular personal contacts between our leaders useful. Russian President Vladimir Putin and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan are frequently in touch. This reflects the high level of our relations as allies and strategic partners. This year we celebrated the 30th anniversary of our diplomatic relations.
🇷🇺🇦🇲 We will continue to advance our time-tested relations in all areas without exception.
Today we would certainly like to discuss how things are going in your negotiations with Azerbaijan. There are promising signs on delimitation issues. The normalisation of relations between our close neighbours and friends is fully in Russia's interests. We are ready to make our contribution to this process.

🇷🇺🇦🇲 President of Russia Vladimir Putin met in Sochi with Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan.
October 31, 2022
💬 President Putin: We see the approaches of our colleagues to what is going on at the Armenia-Azerbaijan border and around Nagorno-Karabakh. This conflict is decades old, and I agree, it is time to finally settle it. I know that you have the political will to do so, and we support it by all means.
I will let myself remind you about how the agreement on the ceasefire was reached, when we all proceeded from the need to establish peace and create conditions for development, including the development of the economy of Armenia <...>. Therefore, we need to cover all of these issues today, and I strongly hope that we will make headway.
We have always proceeded from the fact that Armenia has been our strategic partner and an ally from ancient times and to the present day, as I already said at the meeting with the CSTO leaders. So, this is a special situation for us.

🇷🇺🇦🇲 Following the #CSTO summit, President of Russia Vladimir Putin had a separate meeting with Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan.
💬 President Putin: First, I would like to thank you for your invitation, and to congratulate you on a successful CSTO chairmanship, nearly its successful completion. Indeed, Armenia was actively engaged in this work at a very high level.
You also spoke about our bilateral relations that are certainly allied and have roots that go deep into ancient times.
As for today, indeed, our trade increased by 12 percent last year and by 67 percent in the first nine months of this year. Yes, this is partly due to the situation today, but it will certainly be a good contribution to the future, we have no doubt about that.

🤝 On December 27, 2022, President of Russia Vladimir Putin held bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the informal Summit of the CIS heads of state.
🇷🇺🇦🇲 President Putin to Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan: Our economic relations are evolving steadily: we have seen a 73 percent increase in trade over the first ten months of this year. This is a good result.
Of course, the main issue is the settlement in the South Caucasus, and specifically, in Armenian-Azerbaijani relations, the tensions around Karabakh.
#RussiaArmenia
🇷🇺🇧🇾 President Putin to President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko: We agreed to hold the Year of the Russian Language in 2023 and I thought that it would be the most appropriate to meet today for a working breakfast in the Russian Museum.
It is a good environment to talk about serious matters, including our bilateral relations. Even though we are in constant contact, still life gives us a reason every day to discuss certain issues and make the necessary decisions to deal with them efficiently.

🇷🇺🇦🇲 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s opening remarks during talks with Foreign Minister of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan
📍 Moscow, March 20, 2023
💬 As of now, we are the leading trade partner and investor in Armenia’s economy. Last year set a record, with trade almost doubling to about $5 billion (for the time being, we still calculate in dollars, but it is temporary). All of this has helped your country to ensure record high GDP growth of more than 12.5 percent and a surge in business activity.
An important topic at our talks today is cooperation in the Eurasian space, the #CSTO, the #CIS and the #EAEU space, as well as interaction at multilateral venues, including the #UN and the #OSCE.
We will also focus on international security issues, including the Lachin Corridor and Nagorno-Karabakh settlement process, which is one of our priorities.

🇷🇺🇦🇲 Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s opening remarks at the meeting with Foreign Minister of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan (Moscow, January 21, 2025)
💬 Sergey Lavrov: Mr Mirzoyan,
Friends,
We are delighted to welcome you to Moscow as the year 2025 begins. The year 2024 was quite challenging as far as our bilateral relations were concerned.
Today, we would like to have a frank conversation with you and to do that in the same spirit as our respective Leaders – President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan – have been maintaining when discussing items on our agenda that matter for you and for the Russian Federation. I am convinced that we will be able to tackle all the challenges we face in a constructive manner, as we have just said in our face-to-face conversation.
Russia has always appreciated and continues to treasure its brotherly ties with the people of Armenia and with Armenia, our natural strategic partner and ally. We are interested in reinforcing and building on these centuries-old traditions of friendship and neighbourly relations. Holding regular meetings at the highest level, our contacts with you, as well as meetings between our respective economic agencies offer a solid foundation for moving forward.
In 2024, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan visited Moscow two times. He took part in a CIS meeting and attended the BRICS Summit in Kazan where he took part in the BRICS Outreach / BRICS Plus meeting. Apart from the meetings at the highest level, we also had the regular 23rd meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation. It is co-chaired by our deputy prime ministers. Several important agreements were signed on the sidelines of this event.
In just a couple of months, we will come together to mark the 80th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War by our nations, together with other nations of the Soviet Union.
📈 You and I have just discussed trade and economic relations and the positive momentum we are witnessing in this domain. According to statistics, our trade reached an all-time high of almost $12 billion in 2024. These are truly impressive results which are attributable to our bilateral cooperation, as well as within the Eurasian Economic Union. It is our hope that all this facilitates socioeconomic development and helps Armenia achieve the objectives it pursues.
We appreciate efforts to expand our shared cultural and humanitarian space, promote educational and region-to-region ties. All these undertakings enrich our relations and matter greatly for our people and nations.
Today, we will discuss our bilateral relations in all their aspects. Of course, we cannot fail to mention the situation in the region and international developments. Regional security is a major component of what we do in South Caucasus.
❗️ Russia stands ready to provide the necessary assistance in bringing the relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan back to normal across the board by building on the agreements which were reached by the leaders of our three countries in 2020-2022. We believe that these agreements remain relevant, especially considering the current situation in the region.
