🇷🇺🇷🇸 Sergey Lavrov’s opening remarks during a meeting with First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Serbia Ivica Dacic (Moscow, March 21, 2024)
💬 We are glad to see you. We value the relations that are developing between the Russian Federation and Serbia. Their direction is set by regular contacts between our presidents, Vladimir Putin and Aleksandar Vucic. <...>
⚽️ Today we will attend a football match between the Russian and Serbian national teams. The interest in this event will be enormous. The stadium will be full. I am sure the players will show their best game.
☝️Such meetings strengthen the foundations of the international sport movement and fully comply with the principles of Olympism, which have been going through trials in recent years. This is not least due to the position of the IOC. We consider it unacceptable to politicise sport.
This Western policy continues with the support of international officials. It does not look like it will end anytime soon. It reflects the course taken by the "collective West", led by the United States, towards the politicisation of all international relations, including trade and economic relations. Their actions discredit the institutions (International Monetary Fund, World Bank, World Trade Organisation) created after World War II to regulate global processes. <...>
🇺🇳 Of particular importance is collective work at the UN and other multilateral structures to uphold the principles underlying the international system created after the Second World War. The West is clearly not interested in fulfilling them. <...>
Today we expect to discuss in depth our bilateral affairs and cooperation on international platforms. We are interested in hearing your assessment of what is happening in the Balkans, where a serious situation has developed. We are all interested in preventing new crises.

🎙 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s opening remarks at the meeting with Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia Aleksandar Vulin (Moscow, August 14, 2024)
💬 We are glad that you have paid another visit to the Russian Federation. <...>
We should develop our cooperation in all areas. This is particularly relevant when natural relations between the states, which are willing to work together, are under unprecedented attacks from those who seek to ideologise the world politics and subject it to the rules invented by the collective West and aimed to preserve the hegemony. <...>
In your interview with RIA Novosti, you mentioned such method as colour revolutions, used by the West to suppress the dissenters. Specifically, you gave the example of October 2000, when such first clear attempt was made in Serbia, with the illegal change of power. Then the West applied the colour revolution tactics in Georgia and Ukraine, with different degrees of success. Now, something of that kind is taking place in Moldova. Quite recently another attempt to do the same was undertaken in Serbia.
We have appreciated the firmness of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and his team in opposing these attempts and defending the principles that irritate the West <...>. The All-Serb Assembly has shown that this is fully in the interests of Serbs in Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
I cannot but mention that the West is trying to destroy canonical Orthodoxy. The Russian Orthodox Church and the Serbian Orthodox Church jointly with other fraternal churches are active in defending their rights and ideals common for all major world religions, which the West is trying to replace with “neoliberal values.”
🤝 The current global developments that I have tried to describe in brief from Russia’s point of view require even greater consolidation of those who stand for the principles of the UN Charter in all their entirety and interconnection, and not selectively, solely in parts necessary to the West for justifying its aggressive policy and promoting mutually advantageous cooperation.

🇷🇺🇷🇸 On August 14, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vulin met in Moscow.
They had a thorough discussion on a wide range of issues concerning bilateral cooperation and further steps to expand the strategic partnership between Russia and Serbia.
The Parties reaffirmed the mutual interest in maintaining a regular political dialogue and implementing high-potential and mutually beneficial projects.
They also noted that the two countries take the same approach to the settlement of the Kosovo problem on the basis of UN Security Council Resolution 1244, with close coordination of diplomatic efforts to protect Serbia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and with proper respect for the rights of the Serbian population of Kosovo and Metohija.
☝️ Both Officials underscored the need to curb the Kiev regime’s steps to destroy the Russian language, education, mass media, culture and the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Ukraine.
They discussed a few current aspects of the situation in the Balkans and agreed that the countries need to continue working together in the interests of strengthening security and stability, and countering any attempts at destructive external interference in regional affairs.

🇷🇺🇷🇸 President of Russia Vladimir Putin and Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia Aleksandar Vulin met on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum.
💬 President Putin: I hope that your business mission here will be both successful and useful, particularly in terms of carrying out a careful review and assessing cooperation opportunities with Russia’s Far East, a vast region that holds immense potential and promise.
We have so many guests from a wide range of countries here, representing companies of all kinds and from across the world, including Asia and Europe. I believe that in addition to taking part in informal debates and official events, you can also engage with your colleagues from other countries. This is what makes events of this kind so valuable, among other things.
🤝 As for our bilateral relations, it is widely known what they represent. I am referring to the deep-rooted relations, their historical roots and the spiritual affinity between the people of Russia, the Russian nation and the Serbian nation.
Unfortunately, in terms of our trade and economic ties, trade has been declining, albeit slightly. I am aware that you and your cabinet are working on these matters. Perhaps it is time to hold an intergovernmental commission meeting in order to review the obstacles we face in this regard and remove them. Moreover, we have so many interesting avenues for cooperation in manufacturing, transport and industrial cooperation.
As you know, Russia plays a crucial role in supplying Serbia with energy resources, doing so efficiently and at a high level, always in a timely manner and on favourable terms for Serbia. This is something we will also discuss. There are specific issues we must address in this regard. For example, I am referring to the fact that our gas supply deals are set to expire in March 2025.
Of course, we are looking forward to hearing your assessment of what has been happening in your region from a security perspective and in terms of fulfilling the existing international agreements, particularly the Dayton Agreement. It would be very interesting and useful to hear your perspective and assessments on all these matters.

🎙️ Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s statement and answers to media questions at a joint news conference with Foreign Minister of the Republic of Serbia Marko Djuric following talks (Moscow, February 17, 2025)
💬 Sergey Lavrov: We held candid and trust-based talks, as we always do when we communicate with our Serbian friends.
Cooperation between Serbia and Russia is making strides systematically across all key areas. Importantly, our partners in Belgrade have not joined the sanctions campaign unleashed against the Russian Federation by the West. <…>
We appreciate Serbia’s balanced and sovereign foreign policy which is based on its national interest, and believe that it is the key to successful bilateral relations as we move forward. <…>
They discussed in detail energy cooperation. Russia is Serbia’s largest supplier of natural gas and meets up to 85% of its needs for gas. We have never once failed our Serbian friends in anything. We have always reliably supplied Serbia with energy. <…>
Great emphasis was placed on discussing a date that is of great importance for all of us, namely, the 80th Anniversary of Great Victory. On May 9, Moscow will host celebratory events with the attendance of high-ranking foreign guests. The President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic has confirmed his attendance. <…>
🤝 We discussed regional and international priorities. On the world stage, in conjunction with our Serbian friends, we are guided by the principles of the UN Charter which we apply consistently. We stand for creating a more just and equitable world order, and implementing in practice the fundamental principle of sovereign equality of states, which is enshrined in Article 1 of the UN Charter. <…>
We reaffirmed Russia’s willingness to assist in protecting the legitimate rights of Serbia with regard to Kosovo. <…>
We discussed the situation in southeastern Europe. In a broader context, we support the Serbian leadership’s policy of building constructive and neighbourly relations with all Balkan countries, including Bosnia and Herzegovina, with regard to which it is imperative to strictly implement the Dayton Accords approved by the international community.
Excerpt from Sergey Lavrov’s answers to media questions
❓ Question: According to the Kremlin, following the instructions of President Putin, you are heading to Riyadh to take part in Russia-US talks.
💬 Sergey Lavrov: That is true.
❓ Question: What are your expectations for these talks?
💬 Sergey Lavrov: Whenever we go to talks at the suggestion of our partners, our priority is to listen to what they have to tell us.
When President Putin and President Trump spoke by telephone, they agreed it was imperative to put behind the period of abnormal relations between the two great powers during which we, in fact, did not communicate except on isolated technical or humanitarian issues. The Presidents agreed that it was important to resume the dialogue on all issues that could be addressed with the participation of Russia and the United States. The Ukraine settlement, the situation in the Middle East, and a number of other regions around the world that are in a state of turmoil were mentioned as well.
We will listen to what our US dialogue partners have to say. We will be ready to respond and to report back to our respective leaders, who will decide on further steps.
