🇷🇺🤝🇮🇳 Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s presser following the G20 Foreign Ministers’ meeting

#Lavrov: I would like to give credit to our Indian friends for their intention to focus on issues that require collective solutions and the pooling of efforts.

The agenda offered by the Indian hosts fully reflects the aspirations of all states to overcome the persisting crisis, ensure sustainable growth, remove artificial barriers, guarantee fair competition in trade, enhance the multilateral character of the global system, support the UN’s central role and help developing nations have more of a say in international decision-making. All these issues are reflected in the document that our representatives and experts discussed for several days. Agreement was reached on all issues of the G20 agenda, including the need to ensure genuine multilaterism and bolster the positions of developing nations.

It was agreed that from now on the African Union will be a full-fledged member of the G20, just as the EU that has been working in this capacity for several years now.  The document concerns the need to ensure food and energy security and reform the WTO. These are useful and correct agreements.

Unfortunately, the G20 declaration was not approved on behalf of all G20 foreign ministers. As a year ago (under Indonesia’s Presidency), our Western partners were going all-out to highlight the situation around Ukraine, which they were presenting as “Russian aggression” in numerous rhetorical statements. No good came of it.

🇷🇺🙏🇮🇳 #Lavrov: We never make friends against somebody. The official documents signed by the two leaders characterise relations with #India as an especially privileged strategic partnership. I do not know whether any other country has the same status with our Indian friends on paper, officially, but this is what we believe is reflecting the reality, be it the economy, be it technology, be it military cooperation, military-technical cooperation, culture, humanitarian ties, educational ties.

#Lavrov: The surge in terrorism has been largely attributable to Western interference in the domestic affairs of sovereign states. Iraq, Libya, Syria and Afghanistan suffered from armed ventures and neo-colonial aspirations, which undermined their statehood, with terrorist groups on the loose, the growing threat of drug trafficking, impoverishment of the people and the deterioration of human rights

Select quotes:

Hypocrisy and duplicity have become an intrinsic part of Western diplomacy.

• Figures graphically prove that the West is striving to make as much money as possible from the conflict in Ukraine. Last year, its national debt increased by $13 billion to $111 billion. Even the most advanced country with a prosperous economy and industry and rapid growth rates would not be able to pay off $111 billion. For today’s Ukraine this amount is an excuse to take everything that remains of the Zelensky rule.

• The Ukrainian authorities have once again confirmed that they fraudulently deceived the world community and were not really going to fulfil their obligations under the Minsk Package of Measures as endorsed by UN Security Council Resolution 2202.

• The Ukrainian heirs to Nazi organisations have once again demonstrated their desire to continue the cause of their “heroes,” who are knee deep in the blood of thousands of Ukrainians, Russians, Jews, Poles and people of other ethnicities.

• By imposing new unilateral restrictions that undermine the international legal prerogatives of the UN Security Council, the European Union has once again demonstrated double standards, ignored the presumption of innocence principle and presented no evidence, while hypocritically hushing up the obvious offences committed by Ukrainian militants in Donbass and in the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions of the Russian Federation.

• Despite the continuous scheming against Russian culture and our outstanding performers in some Western countries, including the cancellation of exhibitions and concerts, arbitrary declaration of world-renowned Russian artists and poets Ukrainians, passion for Russian culture in its modern and historical dimension does not subside in the world.

• The United States has once again defiantly denied visas to several members of the Russian interdepartmental delegation without any reason. Creating obstacles to the participation of our delegation in the session of the UN OEWG amounts to undermining the principle of the sovereign equality of states, which is a fundamental provision of the UN Charter.

• When we began hearing statements about Europe “needing” to abandon Russian hydrocarbons, it was clear that the United States was behind this. They didn’t make a secret of it.

• A possible military operation in Haiti planned by the United States and its allies are aimed not so much at stabilising – as declared – the security situation in Haiti as at mopping up the political landscape in the interests of certain leaders who have received a “wholesale indulgence” and a “right to power” from their western patrons.

• We are building our relations with Serbia on an age-old foundation of friendship and spiritual affinity between the peoples of the two countries and with account taken of the economic benefit. Cooperation with our Serbian partners is not directed against third countries. It strengthens security and serves the goals of development.

#Lavrov: There can be no return to the old order. The West also says that business as usual is out of the question. There is no need to persuade us of that. We drew all the conclusions quite a while ago.

💬 NATO is going all-out to penetrate this part of the world via the AUKUS bloc. They now want to expand it by attaching Japan and South Korea to three Anglo-Saxon countries. They are also trying to split ASEAN.

Talking points:

#BlackSeaInitiative

According to the statistics of the Joint Coordination Centre in Istanbul, as of March 22 of this year, more than 25 million tonnes of grain and related foodstuffs had been exported from Ukraine.

Who was the main recipient of these products? Needy countries? No, it’s not them. The biggest recipient of the goods is the European Union (41 percent of the total exports).

The Western countries and companies started with the high standards and lofty words about helping the needy and starving and have come all the way to downright stealing. This makes perfect sense for imperialists and the way they treat their colonies.

#ICC

It is clear that the ICC Prosecutor and judges obediently follow the line laid down by their Western sponsors.

This body will never investigate real crimes. We will wait in vain for an investigation into crimes committed in Iraq, where the death toll among peaceful civilians reached hundreds of thousands, and in Afghanistan, where a lot of civilians died as well.

#IOC

Unfortunately, the IOC and other international institutions where US satellites and other officials controlled by Washington have entrenched themselves have had no qualms hiding behind their would-be commitment to ensuring that the 2024 Olympics are held in peace, all while seeking to divide athletes in terms of their political loyalties.

The effort to harass Russian athletes, our teams and coaches for all these years can be lethal for the honest principles of the Olympic movement.

Talking points:

#Ukraine

The West says openly that they will do everything possible to facilitate a successful Ukrainian counteroffensive, supposedly due to begin in the near future. They are not hiding the fact that they are behind all these plans. They have repeatedly noted their involvement in tactical target acquisition, and now they are creating a strategic disposition.

Representatives from the “collective West” are also demanding openly that Russia sustain the maximum possible losses. So, they are reaffirming their direct involvement in the conflict once again.

#BlackSeaInitiative

Russia extended it for only 60 days, arguing that it did not consider its implementation as satisfactory. We made our position clear. We received a package of proposals from the UN Secretary-General addressed to President of Russia Vladimir Putin on the development, implementation and further progress of the Black Sea initiative.

All of this will be thoroughly analysed. The decision will be made based on the results of interdepartmental study.
