📅 On December 9, President of Russia Vladimir Putin took part in a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in Bishkek.
💬 President Putin: First of all, I would like to join the words of gratitude addressed to the President of Kyrgyzstan and thank all our Kyrgyzstani friends for the work they have done during their EAEU chairmanship.
☝️ This year, our integration association has performed effectively and continued to grow steadily.
<...>
Uninterrupted trade in all vital goods in the EAEU has been ensured, by the way, including, as I have already said, food, and also energy.
Meanwhile, work has accelerated in the transition to national currencies in mutual settlements. The process of creating a common payment infrastructure and integrating national systems for the transmission of financial information has begun.
🇷🇺 Russia will assume the chairmanship the Eurasian Economic Union. Let me give you a broad summary of what we consider to be our future priorities:
🔹 to update the strategic benchmarks of EAEU development;
🔹 to strengthen the technological sovereignty of the EAEU member states;
🔹 to continue efforts to jointly introduce information technologies;
🔹 to build up investment cooperation;
🔹 to expand scientific, technical and educational contacts.
❗️ The Eurasian Economic Union and our integration work in general are attracting the attention of more and more international players, and many foreign states are interested in developing ties with our association. I will not repeat everything now but will just say that I fully agree with the proposals of our colleagues to expand this work, including with regional structures, such as the #SCO and #ASEAN.
Russia welcomes the invigoration of the EAEU’s international business ties and contacts. It will help further expand the range of preferential and non-preferential agreements with foreign partners.

🎙 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s remarks at the 46th meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the BSEC Member States (June 13, 2023)
Key talking points:
🔹 Over its thirty-year-long history, the BSEC has established itself as a sought-after mechanism that forms regional identity and opportunities for sustainable development and prosperity in the Greater Black Sea region.
🔹 The coronavirus pandemic, disruptions in global supply chains, energy transition, and digital transformation dictate the need to increase the regional dimension in the global economy. It is important for the BSEC to adapt to rapidly changing realities.
🔹 It is advisable to emphasise the role of the Black Sea region as an independent economic centre, its growing importance in trade, transport, energy, digitalisation, food security, education, and emergency response, as well as in improving the reliability of the banking and financial sectors.
🔹 The multipolar global economic system is opening up opportunities for the region to acquire importance in its own right in the context of the objective process of forming the Greater Eurasian Partnership with the participation of the members of the #EAEU, #ASEAN, the #SCO and all other countries of our common continent.
🔹 Regrettably, the trend towards artificial politicisation of the working processes in the BSEC and its Parliamentary Assembly continues unabated which represents a major obstacle to tapping the rich economic potential of the Black Sea region and undermines the atmosphere of dialogue and trust.
🔹 The world needs Russian fertilisers and wheat no less than it needs Ukrainian fodder grain that is produced by American corporations and bought at dirt-cheap prices by Europeans who are hypocritically hiding behind humanitarian slogans.
🔹 Despite the artificially created difficulties, I would like to hope that the BSEC will continue to enjoy high demand as a platform to discuss ways to ensure growth and prosperity in the Black Sea region.

🛡 #OTD 22 years ago, the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (#SCO) was founded - a multilateral association aimed at ensuring peace, security and stability and jointly countering new security challenges and threats to member states.
Today, the SCO is made up of eight countries: its founding members – Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan – as well as India and Pakistan, which joined in 2017. Iran is also expected to become a full SCO member at the upcoming summit (July 3-4, New Delhi).
In June 2002, the organisation's member states signed the Treaty on Long-Term Good-Neighbourliness, Friendship and Cooperation that cemented the SCO's focus on the positive promotion of multidimensional cooperation and its non-targeting of third countries and organisations. Today the SCO continues to firmly rule out bloc, ideological and confrontational approaches to solving international and regional development problems.
🤝 One of the most important areas of SCO activity is joint efforts to combat terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking and transnational organised crime. The SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure operates in Tashkent on a permanent basis to ensure effective cooperation between the competent authorities of the member states in these areas.
🌐 The SCO's legal framework for relations with the United Nations and its agencies continues to expand. Partnerships have been established with the #CIS, #CSTO, #EEC, #ASEAN and a number of other multilateral associations that share similar principles of constructive development.

🇷🇺🇨🇳 On July 13, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Director of the Chinese Communist Party Central Committee Foreign Affairs Commission Office Wang Yi met on the sidelines of the ASEAN ministerial events in Jakarta.
The two diplomats praised the development of the political dialogue and practical interaction between Russia and China against the backdrop of increasing global turbulence. The Parties confirmed the importance of maintaining cooperation to deepen the two countries’ foreign political interaction.
Sergey Lavrov and Wang Yi discussed in detail cooperation within #ASEAN in the context of certain countries’ increased efforts to create bloc-focused military-political formats designed to undermine the ASEAN-centric system of maintaining security and stability in the Asia-Pacific region.
The Parties exchanged opinions on the current developments around the Ukrainian crisis and assessed the efforts of the global community to launch a peaceful negotiations process on Ukraine.
🤝 They also emphasised the importance of strengthening foreign political interaction between Moscow and Beijing at various international platforms, including the #UN, the #SCO, #BRICS, #APEC, the #G20 and others. The Sides expressed a shared commitment to boosting bilateral coordination regarding issues on the regional and global agenda in the interests of creating a more just and sustainable polycentric international order.
