🇷🇺 Vladimir Putin has been inaugurated as President of Russia in a ceremony that took place at the Kremlin (May 7, 2024)

💬 In these solemn and crucial moments of assuming the office of the President, I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the citizens of Russia across all regions of our country, as well as those living in the historical territories of Russia who have won their right to stand united with our Motherland.

I humbly honour our heroes, the participants in the special military operation, and all those who are fighting for our Fatherland.

I would like to thank you again for the trust you have placed in me and for your unwavering support. These words are directed to every citizen of Russia.

<...>

🌐 We have been and will continue to be open to strengthening good relations with all countries that view Russia as a reliable and honest partner. Indeed, those constitute the global majority.

We are not rejecting dialogue with Western states. The choice is theirs: whether they intend to continue trying to contain Russia’s development, continue the policy of aggression, the relentless pressure they have been exerting on our country for years, or seek a path to cooperation and peace.

To reiterate, we are open to talks, including on security and strategic stability, but not to negotiations from a position of strength. We are open to a conversation without arrogance, conceit or exceptionalism – a dialogue on an equal footing and with respect for each other’s interests.

Together with our partners in Eurasian integration and other sovereign development centres, we will continue to build a multipolar world and an equal and indivisible security system.

<...>

☝️ We stand as a united and great nation. Together we will overcome all obstacles and ensure that everything we conceive becomes reality. Together we win!

⚡️ Official commentary of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Jamaica to the article published in Sunday Observer on May 26

On May 26, an article by guest columnist Jason McKay was published in Sunday Observer. Its author had no better idea, but to write that Jamaican gang members are far worse than the "depraved Russians who participated in the rape of Berlin."

☝️ This myth stems from Nazi propaganda, aimed to slander the image of the Soviet Army to encourage the Germans fight to the last drop of blood for Adolf Hitler. Subsequently, the undocumented story of the "mass rape of Berlin" was actively circulated by Western countries during the Cold War as part of a campaign to discredit the Soviet Union and diminish its contribution to defeating Nazism.

While acknowledging that various incidents, driven by horrors of World War II, against civilians in Germany were perpetrated by the Allied forces, a premise that Soviet forces carried them out systematically would be akin to Goebbels-like propaganda.

❗️ Mr. McKay's article vilifies the memory of Soviet soldiers who lost their lives to liberate the world from the ideology of hate and racial superiority. Despite the disclaimer that the article does not necessarily represent the views of the Jamaica Observer, a reputable newspaper should not allow such offensive materials to be published on its pages.

✍️ Russia's President Vladimir Putin sent congratulations to participants and guests of the events dedicated to International Children’s Day.

💬 President Putin: This holiday was established 75 years ago, in 1949, and is marked in many countries. Moscow is a traditional centre of celebrations in Russia. Today, it is welcoming guests from different regions of the country and from the Republic of Belarus and the People’s Republic of China. The children will enjoy colourful events, captivating excursions, and theatre shows. Without a doubt, they will meet interesting people, receive gifts, and enjoy surprises and friendly get-togethers.

I would like to emphasise that children’s education and strong family values are a priority of the state and society in our country. It is important for every child to be surrounded by loving care, to grow up healthy and happy, and to develop their talents and gifts. The Russian Children’s Fund is making a significant contribution to this mass-scale joint work. Its charitable programmes in health care, education, outreach, and creativity deserve the deepest recognition.

Yekaterina comes from our country’s westernmost region. She shared her impressions and observations about her beloved hometown, Kaliningrad, its monumental cathedral, its parks stunning in any season, as well as philosopher Immanuel Kant’s legacy as regards his 300th anniversary, celebrated this year.

#FunFacts

📚 Famous philosopher Immanuel Kant was born and bred in Kaliningrad (then Königsberg). He had a direct bond with Russia as a member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and he was also a subject of the Russian Empire. A prominent philosopher, he was buried in the city’s historical center, which came to be known as Kant Island. On April 22-24, the city hosted the International Kant Congress, which Foreign Ministry officials attended.

🧡 The Kaliningrad Region accounts for almost 90 percent of the world’s amber reserves. The Catherine Palace in St Petersburg used these so-called sun stones from Kaliningrad region to recreate an exact copy of the lost Amber Room. This project took 24 years and was completed in 2003, when St Petersburg marked its 300th anniversary.

⚓️ Kaliningrad hosts the Museum of the World Ocean,Russia’s one-of-a-kind museum dedicated to all of maritime science, nature and technology.
