#NEWS | The separatist Moldovan region of Transnistria found a way to buy Russian gas, after all - with Moldova's approval.

Further on, it will be buying gas from the Hungarian operator MET - using Russian credits and loans, much like Transnistria used to do in the recent past. However, now, instead of relying on Ukraine for the transit, it will be relying on Romania and Moldova, thus, giving these two countries much more leverage and control over the separatist region's politics and wellbeing.

Transnistria's president Krasnoselsky changed his tone and openly thanked Moldova for helping to arrange this new deal. That marks a new step in the relations between Transnistria and Moldova, as, in the past, separatists barely counted on Moldova for anything and acted very hostile.

The President added that a 1 cent coin costs more than USD 0.02 to manufacture. That more than 50% loss in value is the main reason behind the fresh decision.

Russia's foreign direct investment (FDI) has fallen to its lowest level in 15 years, with the total volume having decreased to $235 billion by October 2024, according to data from the Russian Central Bank, Ukrainska Pravda reported Saturday.

Pre-war #Russia was attracting nearly $500 billion of FDI a year, which was still a low result compared to other emerging markets.

#NEWS | Bank of England faces exodus of gold, as it lost 8000 gold bars between late December and now - around 2% of the total number of gold bars kept in it.

The exodus was triggered by the speculations about President Trump planning to impose tariffs and fees on the UK and imports of gold, in general. That led to investors being ready to pay more for gold in New York versus the London prices. Consequently, more of them became interested in keeping their gold in the United States.
