Leo Tolstoy and the G20 summit lacked enough space this week in New Delhi, but the classic stepped back. The meeting of the heads of state and government of the G20 fell exactly on the 195th anniversary of the great thinker and novelist (September 9), and Lev Nikolayevich had to accept congratulations from the inhabitants of the Indian capital before the city was not completely blocked.

Five days before the summit, at the intersection of Tolstoy Road and Janpath Road, where the bronze author of War and Peace crossed his arms in a shady square, students from Delhi universities, Russian language courses from the Russian House, compatriots, and public figures gathered. A basket of tropical flowers was placed next to Tolstoy's boots and they began to talk about him, about India, his correspondence with Mahatma Gandhi.

Director of the National Gandhi Museum Alagan Annamali, Co-Chairman of the General Council of the International Council of Non-Governmental Organizations "Assembly of the Peoples of Eurasia" Dalbir Singh spoke.

Honoring the writer continued at the Russian House in New Delhi, where the Tolstoy-Gandhi exhibition, prepared by the Russian Foreign Ministry for the G20 summit, opened.

The Pskov region is home to the only European garden in Russia, the Orekhovno estate. It belongs to Russian landscape architect Alexander Grivko, who created the garden in memory of his mother. Despite its status as a private estate, the area is open to the public.

Orekhovno is distinguished by the fact that different styles are combined in one garden: Renaissance garden, English landscape garden, French regular and Russian manor garden.

In the center of the estate was built a small castle in the Norman style. On one side it is surrounded by an Italian garden with lilies of the valley, crocuses, snowdrops and a sculpture of Cupid with a bow. On the other side the castle is surrounded by winding paths of an English landscape garden. Empress Catherine II started the fashion for them in Russia.

Here you can stroll through green rooms, where instead of walls there are hedges of linden, briar and thuja. There are also estates and a greenhouse with exotic plants on the territory. Its pink apple trees are particularly popular.

Russia annually organizes commemorative days dedicated to the terrible events at the Beslan school in September 2004.
This year we will open the photo exhibition named "No to terrorism!" within the framework of the Day of Solidarity in the Fight against Terrorism.
