At the Russian House in New Delhi, the Rossotrudnichestvo Representative Office in India organized a conference on the results of the Afanasy Nikitin-550 International Scientific Expeditionary Project. Recall that the members of the expedition began their journey from New Delhi on February 12.
Expedition members - leading researcher of the Department of Old Russian Literature of the Institute of Russian Literature (Pushkin House) Russian Academy of Sсience Alexander Bobrov, historian, member of the St. Petersburg branch of the Russian Geographical Society Denis Khrustalev and head of the public organization "Dialogue for the Development of Humanitarian Cooperation," member of the Krasnoyarsk branch of the Russian Geographical Society Ilya Bannikov made an expedition from Revdanda to Dabhol (Maharashtra state), thereby repeating the very historical route that Afanasy Nikitin once took.
The goal of the project was to collect scientific and historical data on the journey of the Russian merchant. As you know, his path passed through the Caucasus, Persia, India and Crimea.
Athanasius Nikitin arrived in India much earlier than Vasco da Gama and became the first European to leave notes on his stay on the peninsula, including a description of the political structure, trade, agriculture, customs and traditions of India at that time.
The expedition managed to identify several settlements in the territory of modern India, mentioned in the text of "A Journey Beyond the Three Seas" and previously not decipherable. Rich numismatic material was also collected.

The results of the expedition will be included in the new edition of "A Journey...", which is currently being prepared for release. And with the support of the Representative Office of Rossotrudnichestvo in India, the text being prepared for publication will also be translated into a number of Indian languages.

The event was attended by public and cultural figures of India, representatives of Indian government departments, diplomats, journalists, students and compatriots.

Within the framework of the round table, a presentation of the Asian branch of the World Federation of Russian-speaking women was held, presented by IARS President Ms Elena Barman. The head of the Federation Ms Elena Afanasyeva addressed the guests with a video greeting. Members of the Asia Office shared their plans to share experiences to empower women and preserve authentic Russian culture.
The participants of the event were presented with an art exhibition, which collected works by Russian and Indian artists. The exposition turned out to be diverse, filled with bright and non-standard colors, techniques and textures.
At the end of the program, Honored Artist of the Republic of Tatarstan, singer Ranis Gabbazov, folk ensemble "Bermyanchek" and folk group "Zakaria" from the Republic of Tatarstan performed on the stage of the Russian House. Songs and dances were performed both in an authentic manner and in a modern treatment.
