Выставка, посвященная дружеским отношениям и переписке Махатмы Ганди и Льва Толстого, открылась в помещении выставочно-торгового центра Cottage Emporium, на участке которого расположен памятник русскому писателю. Как сообщила ТАСС председатель координационного совета Индийской ассоциации российских соотечественников (ИАРС) Елена Барман, в экспозиции, посвященной дню рождения Толстого, представлены 19 стендов, рассказывающих о переписке индийского и русского мыслителей.
"На этих стендах размещены фотографии и копии документов посвященных дружбе Льва Толстого и Махатмы Ганди. К сожалению, сегодня в Индии не все знают о Льве Толстом и об их переписке. Поэтому мы открыли выставку в центре Нью-Дели, где всегда бывает много индийцев, а также иностранных граждан", - рассказала Барман.
Она указала, что организаторами экспозиции выступили посольство РФ в Индии, Русский дом в Нью-Дели, ИАРС, поддержку оказал Cottage Emporium, который разместил экспозицию.
"Лев Толстой и Махатма Ганди несут мудрость и понимание того, как жить в мире", - сказал корреспонденту ТАСС директор Cottage Emporium Манодж Лал. "И мы рады, что эта выставка открылась у нас, когда в Индии отмечают праздник Ганеш Чатуртхи (один из самых популярных праздников индуизма в честь бога Ганеши, который продолжается 10 дней), это честь для нас", - добавил он.
"Выставка рассказывает о влиянии, которое Лев Толстой оказал на Махатму Ганди - лидера индийского национально-освободительного движения. Эти два мыслителя долго переписывались и Ганди отмечал, что в каждом письме Толстого он находил что-то важное для себя", - отметила жена посла РФ в Индии Диана Алипова.
Выставка открылась с церемонии возложения цветов к памятнику Льву Толстому, расположенному на улице Толстой-марг рядом с Cottage Emporium. Затем состоялось зажжение традиционной индийской лампы. Как рассказала ТАСС руководитель представительства Россотрудничества в Индии Елена Ремизова, выставка стала первым мероприятием, посвященным дню рождения писателя.
"В Русском доме в Нью-Дели также запланированы показы фильма "Война и мир" режиссера Сергея Бондарчука 13 и 14 сентября. Ленту с английскими субтитрами предоставил специально для этого случая Мосфильм", - рассказала Ремизова. Она добавила, что перед началом киносеансов учащиеся Школы балета при Русском доме покажут номер "первый бал Наташи Ростовой" - они исполнят вальс в исторических костюмах.
Ремизова отметила, что 13 сентября также состоится заседание литературного клуба, посвященное наследию Толстого. В нем примут участие преподаватели русского языка и студенты индийских вузов. А 14 сентября в Русском доме состоится открытие еще одной экспозиции, которую предоставил музей Ясная Поляна. Выставка расскажет о посещении этого музея знаменитой индийской женщиной-политиком Индирой Ганди и о Толстом в целом.

An exhibition dedicated to the friendly relations and correspondence between Mahatma Gandhi and Leo Tolstoy has opened in the premises of the Cottage Emporium exhibition and trade center, on the site of which a monument to the Russian writer is located. As Elena Barman, chairperson of the coordinating council of the Indian Association of Russian Compatriots (IARC), told TASS, the exhibition dedicated to Tolstoy's birthday features 19 stands telling about the correspondence between the Indian and Russian thinkers.
"These stands display photographs and copies of documents dedicated to the friendship between Leo Tolstoy and Mahatma Gandhi. Unfortunately, not everyone in India knows about Leo Tolstoy and their correspondence. That is why we opened the exhibition in the center of New Delhi, where there are always many Indians and foreign citizens," Barman said.
She noted that the organizers of the exhibition were the Russian Embassy in India, the Russian House in New Delhi, IARS, and support was provided by Cottage Emporium, which hosted the exhibition.
"Leo Tolstoy and Mahatma Gandhi bring wisdom and understanding of how to live in the world," Manoj Lal, director of Cottage Emporium, told a TASS correspondent. "And we are glad that this exhibition opened here when India celebrates the Ganesh Chaturthi holiday (one of the most popular Hindu holidays in honor of the god Ganesha, which lasts 10 days), it is an honor for us," he added.
"The exhibition tells about the influence that Leo Tolstoy had on Mahatma Gandhi, the leader of the Indian national liberation movement. These two thinkers corresponded for a long time and Gandhi noted that in each of Tolstoy's letters he found something important for himself," said Diana Alipova, the wife of the Russian Ambassador to India.
The exhibition opened with a ceremony of laying flowers at the monument to Leo Tolstoy, located on Tolstoy Marg Street next to the Cottage Emporium. Then a traditional Indian lamp was lit. As Elena Remizova, head of the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office in India, told TASS, the exhibition was the first event dedicated to the writer's birthday.
"The Russian House in New Delhi is also planning to screen the film War and Peace by director Sergei Bondarchuk on September 13 and 14. The film with English subtitles was provided especially for this occasion by Mosfilm," Remizova said. She added that before the film screenings, students of the Ballet School at the Russian House will perform the number "Natasha Rostova's First Ball" - they will perform a waltz in historical costumes.
Remizova noted that on September 13, a meeting of the literary club dedicated to Tolstoy's legacy will also take place. It will be attended by teachers of the Russian language and students of Indian universities. And on September 14, another exhibition will open at the Russian House, provided by the Yasnaya Polyana Museum. The exhibition will tell about the visit to this museum by the famous Indian female politician Indira Gandhi and about Tolstoy in general.

Русский дом на протяжении года осуществляет плотное взаимодействие со школой и уже заметны результаты сотрудничества: детей пригласили на кинопоказ «Чебурашка», который проходил в российском культурном центре, и они были заметно впечатлены от просмотра российской киноленты. Также в рамках поездки сотрудники Русского дома посетили урок русского языка совместно с российской соотечественницей преподавателем по русскому языку Натальей Марочкиной. Дети начали изучать русский в июле, но уже заметны результаты: могут произносить простые фразы, поддерживать несложный диалог.
На уроке дети узнали о русском писателе Л.Н.Толстом. Этот опыт показывает, что индийские школьники проявляют большой интерес к изучению русского языка. Таких школ много, с которыми Русский дом в Нью-Дели поддерживает тесные контакты, в дальнейшем с ними также планируется плотное взаимодействие, где будет преподаваться русский язык.
