On May 10, a round table of young scientists “Bridging Histories: India and Russia’s Perspectives on World War II” was held at the Center for Russian and Central Asian Studies of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) with the support of the Rossotrudnichestvo.
The participants were students from the Russian State University for the Humanities (RSUH) and JNU. In their presentations, RSUH students spoke about the heroism of Soviet soldiers in the largest battles of the Great Patriotic War — the Battles of Stalingrad and Kursk, and about the 1,418-day road to Victory. Indian students highlighted India’s contribution to World War II, presenting reports on the Battle of Kohima, the retreat in Burma, and the legacy of the war in the country’s northeast.
