The Northern Forum, a large-scale cultural event that unites public and cultural figures and all those who seek to understand the grandeur of the northern expanses, has started for the first time in the capital of India.

One of the highlights of the forum was the grand opening of the “Picturesque Russia” exhibition at the Russian House in New Delhi. With the support of the Rossotrudnichestvo Representative Office in India, the exhibition presented unique photographs that captured the natural beauty of Russia. Landscapes filled with the light of the northern lights, endless expanses of the tundra, majestic mountains and mysterious forests seemed to open the door to the mysterious world of Russian nature for the guests.

Dr. Elena Remizova, Head of the Rossotrudnichestvo Representative Office in India, addressed the audience with a welcoming speech.

The exhibition, prepared by the organizing committee of the Crystal Compass National Award, the Russian Geographical Society and the Chaika production center, aroused great interest among the guests. The photographs were mesmerizing in their depth and mastery of execution.

As the evening progressed, Indian students and schoolchildren performed a creative program. They sang popular Russian songs, and dance numbers in the national styles of both countries emphasized the unique interweaving of cultures. This concert was not just a performance, but a real symbol of friendship and mutual understanding between the peoples of Russia and India.

The cultural program also included a screening of the RT documentary “Hot Race, Cold Dogs” about the legendary Beringia dog sled race. Viewers took a virtual trip to snowy Kamchatka, felt the spirit of pioneers and admired the courage of mushers and their faithful four-legged companions overcoming the harsh conditions of the Arctic.

The forum continued its work the next day. On the campus of the Indaprast Engineering College, employees of the Russian House in New Delhi, together with the Indian Association of Russian Compatriots (IARC), opened the “Corner of Russia”. This cultural center will become a meeting place for students who want to study the Russian language, history and traditions of Russia.

As a sign of friendship and cooperation, the forum delegates, together with IARC activists and the college administration, planted 10 trees, laying the foundation for the "Friendship Garden". This project, born in the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug - Yugra, has now found a continuation in India, symbolizing a caring attitude to nature and the unity of peoples.

The "Northern Forum" in New Delhi has become a real holiday for everyone who wants to get to know Russia better - its culture, nature and spirit of adventure.
