The soft power of art was discussed at the Russian House in New Delhi as part of the «October Sonata» art and literary evening. Three artists of different styles were presented to the guests - Olga Levchenko, Seema Sethi and Puja Khanna Duggal. Dedicated to Russia and India, their extraordinary nature, traditions and architecture, the works found a great response from the public.
A heated discussion was caused by the presentation of Sima Bhalla's book "Ganika," which shows a view of Indian art of the 19th-20th centuries through the prism of the activities of women: dancers, singers, artists, film producers and directors.
The guests of the event were public and cultural figures, professors, journalists, students and compatriots.

More than 100 Indian schoolchildren and students attended an event at the Neru Planetarium in New Delhi dedicated to the launch of the first artificial Earth satellite «Sputnik-1», organized jointly with the Russian House.
The guests were greeted by the Minister-Counselor of the Russian Embassy in India Mr Roman Babushkin and the Director of the Russian House Dr Elena Remizova. They told schoolchildren about the current state and prospects of Russian-Indian cooperation in space. In turn, researcher at the Planetarium Dr Prerna Chandra and her colleagues held a historical quiz for the children on the interaction between Russia and India in the field of engine building, the creation and launch of satellites, and the training of astronauts.
The children and adults were greatly interested in the exhibition on space technologies in everyday life, as well as the film "Space History of Russia," provided by the Association of Planetariums of Russia.
At the end of the event, the participants were awarded with certificates and commemorative badges.

Рассказывали, что одна женщина сидела у окна, к ней направился танк и выстрелил. Ей оторвало голову.»

«Из нашей деревни не смогли выйти 17 человек: кто-то по состоянию здоровья, кто-то из-за родных.

Утром 24 августа ребята обнаружили убитым мужчину 55 лет [который остался в деревне из-за своей матери]. Он пошёл набрать воды на колонку и был убит выстрелом в глаз.

Около той же колонки нашли женщину 72 лет. Её тоже застрелили в глаз.»

«Нам навстречу ехал БТР, мы решили остановиться и спрятаться. Подъехали к лесу и побежали вглубь. Через секунду подъехал БТР и расстрелял машину в упор, а потом дал очередь по лесополосе. Я получил два сквозных ранения обеих рук.»

🇮🇳🇺🇸 HOW THE U.S. ALMOST STARVED INDIA TO DEATH

In 1964, during the war with 🇵🇰Pakistan, India wasn’t just fighting on the battlefield—it was battling a severe food shortage. At this critical moment, the United States stepped in — not as a friend, but with threats.

America warned India that it would cut off all food supplies, holding the country hostage to its demands. However, then-PM Lal Bahadur Shastri didn’t bow to U.S. pressure. Instead, he came up with an idea to skip a meal in the evening in order to help the country weather the crisis.

😨 Shastri didn’t ask the public to make sacrifices without doing so himself. He told his own family that for a week, they would not cook a meal in the evening — living through the very struggle that many Indian families would face.

After ensuring his family could endure this, Shastri took to All India Radio and asked the nation to follow suit.

It was during this moment of defiance that Shastri coined the slogan ‘Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan’, honouring the soldiers and farmers who would lead India to strength and self-reliance.
