В Нью-Дели открылась выставка "Толстой и Индия" по случаю дня рождения писателя
Цикл мероприятий, приуроченных к празднованию дня рождения великого русского писателя Льва Толстого, завершился в индийской столице открытием выставки "Толстой и Индия".
В экспозиции, предоставленной домом-музеем писателя "Ясная Поляна", собраны книги из личной библиотеки Льва Толстого, посвященные Индии, информация о его переписке с лидером индийского национально-освободительного движения Махатмой Ганди и его "Письме к индусу", адресованному индийскому ученому Таракнату Дасу, а также о посещении дома-музея премьер-министром Индии Индирой Ганди и фотография ее автографа в книге посетителей.
Как рассказала ТАСС руководитель представительства Россотрудничества в Индии Елена Ремизова, в рамках недели празднования дня рождения Толстого на базе Русского дома в Нью-Дели также состоялся двухдневный показ фильма-эпопеи "Война и мир" Сергея Бондарчука, предоставленного кинокомпанией "Мосфильм", конкурс студенческих докладов, посвященных творчеству писателя, заседание литературного клуба и показ танцевального номера "Бал Наташи Ростовой", подготовленного учениками балетной школы при Русском доме.
"Мероприятия посетили более 200 человек - литературоведы и русисты, общественные деятели, студенты, писатели, журналисты и соотечественники", - отметила Ремизова.
Посетители выставки, кинопоказов и других посвященных Толстому событий последней недели в Нью-Дели, выразили интерес к его творчеству и фактам биографии, так как в Индии писателя знают и помнят.
Лев Николаевич Толстой родился 9 сентября (28 августа по старому стилю) 1828 года в усадьбе Ясная Поляна Крапивенского уезда Тульской губернии Российской империи (ныне территория Щекинского района Тульской области РФ). Лев Толстой считается одним из крупнейших представителей реалистического направления в мировой литературе. Являлся наиболее издаваемым в СССР писателем: в 1918-1986 годы общий тираж его произведений превысил 436 млн экземпляров. Его сочинения переведены более чем на 90 языков мира. Неоднократно был номинирован на соискание Нобелевской премии по литературе (1902-1906) и Нобелевской премии мира (1901, 1902, 1909). В честь Льва Толстого названы десятки улиц в России и нескольких других странах.

"The events were attended by more than 200 people - literary scholars and Russian specialists, public figures, students, writers, journalists and compatriots," Remizova noted.
Visitors to the exhibition, film screenings and other events dedicated to Tolstoy in the last week in New Delhi expressed interest in his work and biography, since the writer is known and remembered in India.
