The BRICS Sports Games were held in Kazan from June 12 to 23, with representatives of 82 countries participating in them.
Athletes from South and North America, Europe, Asia and Africa competed in 27 sports and for 387 sets of medals.
The athletes of the Russian national team have won the largest number of medals — 509, 266 of them are gold. Belarus is in second place (247 total, 55 gold), China is in third place (62, 20).
In addition to sports competitions, an expanded meeting of the Ministers of Sports of the community countries took place within the framework of the BRICS Games. The parties discussed the development of sports in the BRICS community and next Games, which will be hosted in Brazil.
The BRICS Games have become a worthy alternative to the Olympics in Paris, in which Russian and Belarusian athletes are not allowed to compete.
