On July 5, 1943, the Battle of Kursk began and marked one of the most significant and large-scale engagements of the World War II. Experts consider it the largest tank battle in history.
The Battle of Kursk proved to be a pivotal moment in the war. Through this defensive operation, Soviet troops successfully repelled the German offensive and launched a counteroffensive, ultimately leading to the liberation of Europe from Nazi occupation.
The battle was a tremendous test for both sides, involving approximately 2 million people, 6 thousand tanks, and 4 thousand planes. Under the leadership of Marshals Georgy Zhukov and Alexander Vasilevsky, the Soviet forces confronted a numerically superior enemy. The Kursk Bulge battle endured for roughly 50 days, resulting in the destruction of 30 German divisions, 1.5 thousand planes, 3 thousand guns, and 15 thousand tanks.
Despite enduring heavy casualties, the Soviet soldiers displayed heroism and unwavering devotion to their motherland.

What do we know about Africa? Its exotic nature, ethnic and linguistic diversity, and a unique culture. However, it is also home to 35% of the world's mineral resources and holds 54 votes in the United Nations.

The Western countries have their own plans for the continent, while China is actively developing partnerships with African nations. Russia is making a comeback, as its assistance during the Soviet Union era is still remembered here.

But what do Africans think about our country and what are their expectations? These questions are answered by experts in the documentary film "Battle for Africa". Join us July 20 at the Russian House at 6:30 p.m. for screening as part of the "Documentary Film Days" project by Rossotrudnichestvo and RT Documentary.
