🇷🇺🇱🇻 Commentary of the Russian Embassy in Latvia:
In connection with numerous inquiries from media as well as compatriots living in Latvia, we would like to bring to public notice the official position of Russia regarding the armed mutiny attempt in our country that took place on June 24, 2023.
This treacherous betrayal by the organizers of the failed unrest was a serious test that the Russian people, representatives of the executive and legislative authorities have successfully overcome, demonstrating unity, courage, loyalty to the Fatherland and resolute support for President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.
Thanks to the coordinated actions of our soldiers, officials and the whole society, there was prevented the fratricide, the interest in which was poorly concealed by the foreign ill-wishers, dreaming of a split of Russia and a bloody civil strife.
We are sincerely grateful to every citizen who contributed to the defense of the Russian statehood on that difficult day for all of us. This is a real feat in the fight against external enemies who treacherously use the Ukrainian people as a weapon in the neo-Nazi aggression of the Kiev regime. We highly appreciate the support of our allies, first of all, the leader of fraternal Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, who undertook mediation efforts to peacefully resolve the situation.
We deeply mourn and honor the memory of our soldiers who gave their lives during the armed provocation on June 24.
What happened once again demonstrated that the favorite method of the Western directors-instigators of such "riots" – "divide, pit and rule!". However, the Russian society proved that it has developed immunity to such external and internal challenges, nullifying the attempts of enemies to take advantage of the situation for weakening our country. It is quite obvious that any encroachments on the sovereignty and state system of Russia are doomed to failure.
The passed exam for unity has made the Russian people even stronger. We will continue to unwaveringly defend Russia's sovereign course and genuine spiritual and moral values, which are an integral part of the just multipolar world order.
We hope that the sane part of the international community will give an objective assessment of the statements of some officials (which sometimes go far beyond the limits of political and diplomatic ethics), who openly gloated, anticipating bloody victims among the people of Russia.
