Anadyr is Russia's easternmost city, located just below the Arctic Circle in a region of permafrost. It serves as the starting point for traveling around Chukotka, a peninsula often referred to as the end of the world. We tell you why tourists from all over the planet are drawn here.

Holy Trinity Cathedral

The world's largest functioning wooden temple in the permafrost zone. For its construction materials were collected in Omsk and then delivered to Chukotka in containers from Vladivostok. In addition, eight bells were brought from Voronezh, which are decorated with the faces of saints. In the temple one can see a five-tier iconostasis decorated with picturesque and carved icons depicting images of the Holy Trinity.

Chukotka Heritage Museum Center

Here is an extensive collection of archaeological finds, as well as cultural items and everyday life of local residents. You can look at rare bone-carving products and photos of picturesque landscapes of different parts of the region. Many expositions are interactive: there are terminals near the showcases where you can get additional information about the exhibits. Among the most interesting exhibits are fragments of trees from the unique forest of Chukotka, which existed 55 million years ago.

Kainyran Art Gallery

This is an exhibition center where both traditional and non-traditional arts and crafts created by the indigenous peoples of Chukotka are presented. You can also buy products of Uelen bone-carving workshop and other souvenirs.

February 2 is the Day of Military Honour of Russia. Exactly 82 years ago, the Battle of Stalingrad came to
an end. This date reminds us of the great feat of the Soviet army, which we will tell you about today. The Battle of Stalingrad is considered one of the most significant events in the history of Russia. We can say that the outcome of this battle largely predetermined the future not only of our country, but also of
other Soviet Republics and all countries participating in the Second World War.
It lasted 200 days. The city was defended by one and a half thousand guns. For this feat, Stalingrad was one of the first who received the title of hero-city. Today in the city you can see many monuments that still bear the traces of the battle. For example, a grain elevator, Gergardt's mill, a laboratory at the plant "Red October", Pavlov's House and others. But, of course, the most famous remains the complex on Mamaev Kurgan. It is there that thousands of Soviet heroes are buried, and it is
there that the monument "Motherland Calls!" stands.

by S. Bondarchuk, "The Hot Snow" by G. Yeghiazarov, "Life and Fate" by S. Ursulyak. The Russian Houses in Argentina, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Egypt, India, Moldavia, Mongolia, Armenia and
Egypt will host a series of events dedicated to the defeat of Nazi troops in the Battle of Stalingrad.
