Russian House congratulates teachers, students, schoolchildren and their parents on Knowledge Day! 🍁📚
Under Peter I, the New Year was moved to January 1, but the tradition of starting classes on the first day of autumn remained. It was by this time that field work ended, and children had free time that should not be wasted.
In Russia, as a national holiday, "September 1" has been officially celebrated since 1984. This year, the festive assemblies will be held on September 2, the first working day of September. But today we have collected paintings and engravings dedicated to this day in the carousel. Using the site https://arthive.com/ru/about, you can also find works of art dedicated to any topic you choose!

Yesterday was the World War II End Day. The date refers to the period, when in August 1945 the Soviet Union officially joined the Potsdam Declaration and assisted the Allies in the liberation of the countries occupied by Japan. As a result, the last hotbed of World War II was eliminated.
We remembered all those who gave their lives for the return of peace.

The former royal residence is a place where you can see both historical buildings and a farm with animals. Today we are going to tell you about Gatchina! 🏰
The royal residence became a city in the late XVIII century, when its owner was Emperor Paul I. He was actively engaged in the rebuilding and arrangement of the territory. The residence was not just a place of rest and hunting for the emperor, but also the center of political life.
We advise you to start your acquaintance with the Gatchina (https://gatchinapalace.ru/gatchina/) and Priory (https://gatchinapalace.ru/dvorec/) palaces. The second one is the only earthen building preserved in Russia.

In the first weeks of September, Baikal Day is celebrated in Russia, a holiday that honors Russia's true natural treasure. The day was first celebrated in 1999 on the initiative of UNESCO, which included the lake in its heritage list in 1996.
Baikal is the rarest phenomenon in the world. There are many myths and legends connected with it, because this place gives off pure mystery.
🔮 According to Buryat beliefs, the bottom of the lake leads to the Arctic Ocean, in other words, to the place where sinful souls wander. In ancient times, the cold ocean was a personification of the afterlife. Eyewitnesses told how ships sunk in the Arctic Ocean ended up in Baikal.
🔮 Also, Buryats make sacrifices on the shores of the lake, so you can often see pyramids made of stones - oboo. Sweets, coins, tied strips of cloth, bread and many other things that act as gifts to the spirits are put to the pyramids.
We have selected for you the most picturesque photos of Baikal and thematic paintings of artists!
