Vladimir Putin expressed his condolences to Mikhail Gorbachev’s family and friends
“Mikhail Gorbachev was a politician and a statesman who exerted a tremendous influence on the course of world history. He headed this country at a time of complicated and dramatic change and large-scale foreign policy, economic and social challenges. He realised that reforms were necessary, and he strove to suggest his own solutions to long-standing problems. I would like to make special mention of the large-scale humanitarian, charitable and educational activities that Mikhail Gorbachev conducted in the past few years,” the message reads, in part.

"The requirements of the labour market are changing constantly. Science and education are going through swift and dynamic changes. Naturally, we must create a knowledge acquisition paradigm in which acquired knowledge is, on the one hand, broad enough and, on the other hand, allows us to specialise and use this knowledge in a range of industries. This will make it much easier to make the first steps in one's career path," the President stressed.
Vladimir Putin spoke to school students about theoretical and applied sciences, environmental awareness and history, mentorship and self-discipline. Young participants told the President about their hobbies and projects and asked for advice.

Key statements from the first meeting of the Supervisory Board of the Russian Public-State Movement of Children and Youth:
🔹The new movement should exist wherever children grow up, including in small towns and the most remote areas.
🔹The key principle is that participation is voluntarily; there should be no obligation.
🔹The best education programmes should be used as guidelines.
🔹It is important for the young generation to have more opportunities to do projects with children from other regions, make friends all over the country, and discover Russia.
🔹It is necessary to support Donetsk and Lugansk schoolchildren, along with their Russian peers, in the movement.
🔹People who can lead, be more interesting than modern information flows, and demonstrate real values like friendship, family and love for the Fatherland, should work in the movement.
🔹It is not enough to just pass on knowledge. It is equally important to teach children how to use it, and what to live and work for.
