Knowledge is a perishable commodity; it can turn sour in a second. Like the future.

Lukashenko is meeting with Putin in Moscow, allegedly to discuss the further integration. Don't know about integration, the only thing we are curious about is how much money Lukashenko will get this time. Belarus is a perfect white elephant for Russia.
The Bank of Russia reported that the net private capital outflow from Russia amounted to $51bln in a 8-month span of 2021 which is 43.5% more than in January-August of 2020.

Russian riches – top-siloviks, MPs, oligarchs etc – are taking their billions to the West amidst the skyrocketing poverty and Kremlin’s anti-Western propaganda.

The narrative of the West dreaming of ousting Vladimir Putin is utterly ridiculous. Look at the numbers. Money talks.

Sure enough, Russian state-sponsored telegram won’t talk about it the way it talks about, for example, the threat of migrants or Biden’s follies.

It is vital to make Russians believe that a random Tajik is more dangerous than a corrupted silovik caste or MP that are literally destroying the future of Russians by ensuring the future of their own children somewhere in Switzerland.
As we have suggested yesterday, the Bank of Russia increased its key rate by .25 basic points today. The key rate is 6.75% now.
Not a single person we talked with about the death of Evgeny Zinichev believes in the official accounts of his death. One of our US sources called the official version “utterly ridiculous”.

Not a single Russian source believes in it either. Some believe it to be a “hidden Rommel-style suicide”.

Another said that he tended to believe that Zinichev fell off the cliff accidentally until Putin awarded him with the Hero of Russia Gold Star the very next day after his death.

A dogfight is going on under the red Kremlin carpets amidst the transfer, and Zinichev’s death or killing shows how high are the stakes.

The message is sent anyway. No captives will be held In the Russian power transfer. These people are fighting for billions of dollars and the right to control the nuclear power with endless natural resources.

If Zinichev was killed on order, then this order could be given by one man only. If he really died by an accident, then something is really, really wrong in Russia.
Half a year ago another Russian official, although far less important, than Zinichev, fell of the cliff in his car – Ibragim Temirbayev, the former mayor of Argun.

Prior to his violent death, Temirbayev spent more than a year in one of Kadyrov’s prisons in Argun. He fell off the favour after allegedly denouncing feudal lord Kadyrov in private conversations.

Yes, Kadyrov is indeed modern Russia as it is.
Russian state agency RIA reported today that some of Putin’s close contacts have Covid, so the Russian president is once again thinking about self-isolation.

Putin lived in a protected virus-free bubble for a long time, earning the nickname of “Bunker Putin”. A quarantine has been imposed on anyone scheduled to meet with the President even after he got vaccinated.

Perhaps, there is no other leader in the world who is so scared for his life and has that strong distrust and suspicion of the people.
Natural gas prices have surged more than 35% in the past month, as worries grow there is not enough gas stored up for the winter. The demand is growing around the world and supplies remain below normal.

The biggest problem area is Europe, where supply is at a record low for this time of year. The price of gas in Europe has currently approached a record $800 per 1,000 cubic meters and will likely continue to go up.

There is still no clear information about the Nord Stream 2. Although the construction is complete, it still needs the approval of German regulator.

American suppliers liquified natural gas (LNG) are enjoying the market. The price for LNG went up, as well as the demand, largely due to China. So have the stocks of American gas producers, like EQT, Range Resources, and Antero Resources.

Perfect situation.
Russian telegram is going wild about another incident with migrants. The level of xenophobia among Russians towards “nerusskiys” is traditionally very high, so every incident gives good grounds for another outburst of public xenophobia.

The funny thing is that Russian economy cannot go without migrants anymore. Various high-ranked officials, starting from the President, are regularly elaborating on this issue.

The last one was the Deputy Mayor of Moscow Vladimir Efimov, who lamented that Moscow is still experiencing a shortage of labor migrants at various construction sites, and now there is a shortage of about 200 000 people.

The number of migrants will go up, there is no way of stopping it. There is no other market for them, and both Tajikistan and Uzbekistan have wild demography.

On the other hand, Russia has a type of feudal state and economics that needs exactly this type of labor force – cheap and non-demanding. To change the situation, Russians need to take on corrupted siloviks and authorities.

Which they are not able to do amidst regular emotional xenophobic outbursts.
State-financed telegram major Nezygar:

Vladimir Putin’s self-isolation could be directly or indirectly connected with Evgeny Zinichev’s mysterious death. The strengthened security of Russia’s top public officials also speaks in favor of this version”.

Well, we assume that nobody is naive is enough to think that Putin isolated himself immediately after Zinichev’s death for some other reason. It is well-known how paranoid the President is about his physical safety.

Those who were supposed to understand the message sent by Zinichev’s death surely did it. At least Putin. The inner circle will be controlled more tightly.

Zinichev tried to enhance the capabilities of MCHS, turning the powerful Emergency Ministry into a structure with independent secret service and intelligence.
Georgian media outlets have published files leaked from Georgian Secret Service, containing information about corruption among high-ranked clerics and their ties with Russia.

The data has clearly been obtained via illegal surveillance. It refers to Patriarch Ilia 2 and other influential clerics.

Georgian Orthodox Church is extremely influential in the country. Ilia 2 is by far the most successful Georgian politician of the last 30 years and enjoys an unmatched level of trust among Georgians.

The Church is the last bastion of Russian influence in Georgia, with very close ties to Russian Patriarchy which is basically a Department of Kremlin.

From pragmatic standpoint it’s not that important to dismantle this bastion, Georgia is won anyway. In terms of value-based management its liberalization is important for some groups in State Department.

The US have a loyal group among Georgian clergy and will have a say in the election of Patriarch after Ilia.
A couple of words about upcoming Duma elections.

Of course, claims about American interference with the elections are ridiculous, for you cannot interfere with something non-existent.

Meanwhile, these are the elections that could be effectively lost by United Russia. It is clear that ratings of the ruling party are somewhere around 25%.

If Russia had any kind of public policy, communists, with President in his bunker after Zinichev’s death, could’ve pushed it to the limit and win. If they weren't the sellouts they are.

One of our sources in provincial Russian city told us that teachers, doctors etc in his city will be given 20 voting bulletins each with obligation to cast their votes for United Russia.

Russian Duma is basically illegitimate.
Russia Between The Giants

Six countries currently possess a nuclear-powered submarines. Australia will be the seventh.

US, UK and Australia are forming a new AUKUS alliance almost immediately after American withdrawal from Afghanistan. It is truly a power play by Biden’s administration, Jake Sullivan is doing a good job.

The way Washington terminated the record submarine contract of Australia with France surely alienated the French. On the one hand, Paris has all imaginable reasons to be mad.

Still, the French have nobody to blame except for themselves. They simply miscalculated the decisiveness of the US to contain China.

There has been a growing frustration in Washington over soft French and German approaches to China, and there is no place here for dramatized sentiments.

In the new anti-China security alliance nobody will be able to eat a cake and have it, too.
Five of ten fastest-growing cities in Europe are located in Russia: Balashikha, Tyumen, Sochi, Krasnodar and Surgut. Why is this a problem?

Because it is an indicator of the Russian depopulation and devastation of rural areas. The enormous Russian territory is mostly empty, which also seems to be the deliberate choice of Kremlin. Russian feudal lords are interested in natural resources and money, not the people and territories.

Russians are leaving for big regional aglomerations.

Tyumen and Surgut are relatively prosperous oil-rich areas in Siberia, Sochi and Krasnodar are southern Black Sea cities. Don’t know about Balashikha, perhaps, it is growing thanks to Asian migrants.
Pavel Durov blocked Navalny's "smart voting" bot in Telegram. You haven't lasted too long, Pavel, have you? Funny, but so predictable.
On Prilepin's coming-out about his unwillingness to be an MP - this man has always been Surkov's clown.
Couldn't have said it better. The whole "election" process in Russia shows one very important difference between the West and this country: reputation as an institution and a value doesn't exist in Russia.

Basically there is no legitimate authority in Russia, but, as we have said many times, it is a corporation with enormous repressive apparatus.

Good you're back, one of our favorite Russian telegram sources.

Durov’s motivations were driven not only by the pressure of Google and Apple. To understand his ban on Navalny’s smart voting bot on Kremlin’s orders, we have to go back to TON blockchain project.

Durov indeed wanted to do something revolutionary - create a state-of-the-art blockchain with the associated Gram coin that was to become a platform for commercialising blockchain.

The project raised almost $2bln which was the largest ICO ever. It appeared that Russian top-officials like Mikhail Abyzov were also among the investors.

Durov could really create a safe decentralized blockchain platform, but couldn’t overcome the hostility of US Securities and Exchange Commission which banned the project.

There were certain problems with investors afterwards. One of those who invested in Durov’s idea were Russian Direct Investment Fund of Kirill Dmitriev, along with its partner crown prince of Abu Dhabi Mohammed bin Zayed’s Mubadala Company.

Durov lives in UAE, so Google and Apple are certainly not the only channel of working with him.
Comet of Pamfilova

Jake Cordell came up with excellent graphs in Twitter showing the possible scale of election fraud in Russia.

First graph is the result of United Russia. The big bulk in the middle shows its results in the polling stations without falsifications. With the real turnout of 30-40% United Russia is getting about 30% of votes.

Communists get at least the same result with honest turnout, but, as the graph shows, as soon as the turnout goes up, United Russia’s results are hitting the sky, while all other parties go down heavily.

Cannot be like that, it is real life, not a mechanics. There should be an initiative not to recognize this circus, although nobody cares much neither in Washington, nor in Brussels.
Miller under Sechin

Russian government has sided with Rosneft in its attempt to obtain throughput capacity in the Gazprom-owned subsea gas export pipeline Nord Stream 2, which is expected to be commissioned in the fourth quarter of 2021.

Rosneft may be permitted to start “experimental gas pipeline shipments” to Europe. In this case Gazprom will act as a sales agent for Rosneft to avoid amending existing legislation that limits pipeline gas exports from Russia solely to Gazprom and its subsidiaries – just what Sechin has been looking for.

Sechin has shown once again that he is an oligarch №1 in Russia, mafioso №1 in Russia – you name it. The final decision is up to the oligarch №0 Putin though.
