There is a very real risk that any Russian tactical successes in the Donbas will come with a strategic cost. Russia already lacks enough permanent readiness units to conduct a sustainable rotation. More losses like this will threaten Russia's ability to just hold terrain.

Talking about the ammunition, the US also supplied the Ukrainian forces with M768A1 60mm projectiles - here with M734A1 multi-option fuzes (Proximity, Near Surface Burst, Impact or Delay mode). However the mortar here is UA-made KBA-118 (inspired by the US M2).
